What Civ are you most surprised is missing?

For me it's longtime series mainstay Persia. I imagine they'll be one of the first DLC civs.

For me it is also Persia, along with the Ottomans, Mongolia (although their delay makes sence due to the inclusion of Scythia), the Inka and the Maya.

But for me, Persia is the one I miss most and hope for a Persia DLC to come soon (maybe with a cool 300 scenario ).

This civ could even have multiple leaders: Darius, Cyrus or Xerxes.

That was Firaxis biggest mistake for Cv VI

The Zulus, Byzantine. Probably DLC will bring them back along with Persia (I hope it's the Sassanian!)

Yeah I tend to agree, there are so many possibilities that some civs have to be excluded to keep it to a reasonable number on release. It's totally their call which civs to include, although we all understand there are certain ones that will always be there (America, India, China, Russia, Germany, England, France, Greece, Rome, Egypt).

Although the number of civs that are always present in Vanilla is also shrinking (14 for I and II, 13 for III (no Mongolia), 11 for IV and V (no Zulus and Babylon), 10 for VI (no Aztecs)).

It should include Persia, Sparta and I hope Babilons, Phoenicians and other ancient civs/leadears.

I`m surpriced the Netherlands is not in it. Would be acceptable if it takes its rightfull spot with a cool trading/economic mechanic. + Unique naval unit.
This little nation dominated in its golden age. Still pushing far above its weight in present.

I miss Persia the most. Still waiting for Safavid Persia to make its entry into the series. The civ is so versatile and could be almost anything, depending which time of Persia and which ruler to choose.
I miss Mongols too, but they seem to be replaced by Scythia, so they rank behind Persia for me in the urge to add them.

I miss the total absence of North American native indians. Really sad about this. I assume it would have made them make another whole set of ethnic units and expect them to be on the next DLC, but they are always the first civ I play so a bit disappointed. Let's get modding!

I find the absence of a South Asian Civ quite puzzling. The only somewhat logical explanation I can think is that the devs thought that they could not give a priority to any Civ from the region (Siam, Khmer,...) without causing backlash from the rest of the region and thus introducing them jointly in a future expansion (together with graphics adapted for them?) would be the most feasible approach

Given their huge geographical region, culture, politics, scientific advancements and just the sheer amount of time that they were an empire. It's a little odd that a game called civilization doesn't have one of the most successful civilizations ever.

I started a thread in the Ideas & Suggestions subforum challenging you to create your ideal Civ 6 roster with a few criteria...it's really interesting seeing who people selected when given several limiting factors. It definitely highlights that it's not as easy as it might seem at first.

It depends on how they are implemented. I can see them being close to civvi's England and then we don't need them early on. If Firaxis has a great idea what to do with them, why not before the Mongols who might be close to Scythia in the game? The Netherlands are surely about trading, acquiring gold and luxuries again. There is room for interesting things there that have not been used.
