What Civ/UU are you looking foward to using?

Moderator Action: I've edited the "Race" out of the thread title and replaced it with Civ. This thread should not get derailed because of a single word.

Where did you read this about what the special ability is? Either way that's a sweet and very appropriate one for Rome.

It has been said in one of the videos, i think, and can be read in this german article.

Rolling over the rest of the world with butch Panzers never gets old. Though bombing the rest of the world into submission with a B-17 sounds pretty fun too...

Well, the three Civs I'm looking forward to playing are the Japanese, because Zeros sound like an awesomesauce UU, the English, because Sun Never Sets sounds cool, especially with what seems to be a proper British Navy, and Siam, because I'm interested in what the heck they ARE.

I'm curious to see what they've made of the Persian Immortals this time. In Civ3 they were swordsmen and in CIv4 early cavalry. I think historically they were the emperors bodyguard and were infantry during the aechemenid era and heavy cavalry during the sasanid dynasty.
But wi thall the changes in combat and especially ranged combat really look forward to try the Zhugenu (I just wish Firaxis would stop using the outdated wade-giles romanization for the Chinese UU, after all they use pinyin for leader names).

I think I'll have to go with Iroquois. I never played III and didn't get BtS, so the last time I was able to play as a Native American civ was the Sioux in civ II, back when the only reason to pick one civ over the other was to make sure one of the opponents was Egypt so you could stare at the emissary's see-through skirt. Shut up, I was 12.

Anyway, yeah. I cheered when I saw the Iroquois' surprise entry in V, and I think I want them to be my first.

I will play my first game as Jesus of the Amazings, whose UU is the Murdercycle.

Of course, I'll have to mod them in. But it'll be so worth it.

Well then I'll take Morgan of Morgan Industries with Plasma Orbital Shock Troops as my UU.

(Orbital insertion would be an awesome unit ability for the late game.) :)

IMHO, I want them to replace axes, to reflect the fact that they were pre-classical age, but are a long ways away from the men with clubs that is the warrior.

@Information, On the Civ5 webpage, under civilisations it tells you what the UU's will be and the special ability of the Race!!!!! or Civilisation, Whichever word takes your fancy, they mean the same thing.

I didnt take into consideration the Special abilities when making my decision, well, I'm sure I will have to play with all of them to determine which one is best :P. The details given on special abilities is limited so far, we'll have to wait and see I guess.

No, they certainly don't.

白痴!! 那是 Zhūgě nǔ (诸葛弩) 不是 Zhugenu!!
gosh get your Chinese straight! BTW in Wade-Giles it's Chu-ke nu

(That is a Zhūgě nǔ not Zhugenu, the parenthesis is the term in Chinese)

Ottomans. I liked both janissaries and sipahi in the previous games, and barbary corsairs sounds like it involves wrecking peoples sh*t.

nothing to see here....

I hope they are a heavy cavalry unit in this version. IMO Persian heavy cavalry needs to be represented in civ somehow, considering they were capable of defeating Roman legions easily.

缓和你吧。
我不知道用键盘打字的时候怎么写四声。

Spoiler :

Relax. I don't know how to write the tones when I'm writing with a keyboard.

Besides, even my chinese teachers seem to have differing opinions on what exactly to write as a single word or seperate syllables in pinyin (and sorry if the above grammar is wonky).

Sending you a private message so as not to distract from the thread... but in English vernacular, "Race" and "Civillization" do not mean the same thing at all.

Yes they do, give me an example of a race, and give me an example of a civilisation.
Ill give you two.
English, and English.
Hmmm what a suprise. ^>^.
While Race and Civilisation do technically mean seperate things, Civilisations in Civilization are named and these names are names of race's. So when someone refers to the Chinese Race in Civ, they mean the Chinese Civilisation, both refer to the same thing when talking about Civ. Now i'd rather not sit here and talk semantics with you guys, how about you simply pick your favourite UU/Civ instead of arguing about nothing.

12ag is still looking foward to Longbowmen and Balista's.
Mainly because ranged combat looks so fun, although i'm not sure I am 100% fond of ranged units not retaliating when fired upon by another ranged unit, this means whoever attacks first has the advantage against another ranged unit.

PS. Nic, I won't be reading that PM I have registered my own account now, my brother (schuesseled) may tell me what your PM said though.
