What civilization you hate the most?

I hate America. Washington always does well in my games and ALWAYS backstabs and DOW's me.

He's a little hypocrite saying you're wanted agression leaves us no choise say somebody who did massive murders on his continent

The Ottomans and the Aztecs, they always DOW on everyone! Monty will ask for peace when you destroy his attacking forces though, but Suleiman... Ooooh, that greedy son of a dog... He wont give you a reasonable peace treaty if you dont conquer at least half of his empire, even if you're not fighting at all! He'll just keep spamming peace offers where you lose half of your empire... I hate that guy...

Since all AIs behave like insane maniacs with chainsaws 90% of the time, its really a difficult question.

But for me Napoleon is more or less a guaranteed DOW within the first 50 turns, no matter what I do, so he gets the vote.

Siam because the AI for Rammy is a prick in my experiences.

India gets runner-up for the Gandhi AI's high nuke score (12); both the low war flavour (2) and low victory flavour (3) get overridden by it. He has declared war with me in the name of victory after a whole game of us being friendly with each other, just to use his nukes.

At least with Alex and Monty you know what's in store.

Ottomans. They will always demand every single thing from me, always start on the same continent as me and spawn around 20 cites and I have only 3-5 and when I spawn 1 more the DOW me.

Another civ I've rarely seen to the end of the game - not usually through elimination, they just haven't featured in games I've seen to the end. During the game stages where they are around, however, I've tended to keep friendly with them.

Oh, I can keep on friendly terms with them, no problem. The problem comes when they have conquered three-quarters of the rest of the planet, wiping out every other civ except mine and maybe one other, and are starting to head in my direction...and I haven't yet finished my spaceship/United Nations/am still trying to finish that last branch of the fifth policy.

In the game I just finished, I had one branch of my fifth policy to go before I could even build the Utopia Project, and Hiawatha stopped his conquering long enough to build the Apollo Program and start building spaceship parts. I peeked into his territory (open borders) to see if there was any way I could prevent that, but his capital city had a strength of over 120 and massive size (somewhere in the mid-thirties). I didn't have any nukes to take it out, so I watched helplessly as he finished his spaceship and beat me to victory when I still had 10 turns to go on the Utopia Project.

Bastard.

cheers,
Phil

Rammy. He's one of several AIs who are consistently settling in my borders (Catherine is another offender, but I give her a pass because...em...her diplo screen is refreshing). If I turn my back for a couple of turns, he'll suddenly stick a city in the snow or some other totally random position that serves no purpose other than crowding my borders and giving me a diplo negative for being next to him.

The last game I finished, a week or two back, I had a similar race with Catherine, with a similar result - personally I find the Civ V endgame enjoyable because it's the only time in the Civ series I've felt I'm playing against an opponent trying to win rather than against someone who just wants to wipe me out (except when playing against humans). I didn't have nukes or anything close to Russian territory to stop the spaceship, just had to do the best I could to maximise production in the project city. Chances are I'd have got the final policies sooner - and maybe got Sydney, which I was beaten to in that game - if I hadn't been at permanent war with Babylon for most of the game; in the end I relied on Catherine to help me break the stalemate, but it was too late to stop her spaceship, since even with all intervening Babylonian territory captured Moscow was too far away.

You should have had been in position to deliver this.

After this, Hiawatha could never finish the rest of his Boosters.

Good news guys. The trying to win in the same manner diplo hit is no longer in G&K, so AI will not act as issane.
Also, learn basic diplomacy. Open up the screen, see who denounced who, whos at war and whos friendly. Then denounce, make declarations of friendships, or declare war. Which ever streategically sets yourself up better with you crazy war mongering neighbor. Play OCC a bit more and youll master the art of ciV diplomacy.

Also I still hate you Japan. You and your immortal units combined with honor. O and you greece with your early spear and horsemen rushes that overrrun my border city before I can build archers!!!

I said I had no nukes. The reason is because I saved up my last few Great Scientists to bulb Radar, Lasers and Stealth (I usually find Stealth Bombers to be the best way to take enemy cities, plus they're great on defense). I should have used them to bulb Atomic Theory, Nuclear Fission and Advanced Ballistics instead -- because Stealth Bombers can't hit cities they can't see.

I tried sending in a tank or two to get vision on his capital, but they would get hammered into scrap by an onslaught of fighters, SAMs, and mech infantry, plus the city bombard. I could get a few bombing runs in, but then my spotter would die and I'd be back where I started. Very annoying. If I'd had a nuke or two, I could have at least lobbed them at the city when sending in the suicidal tank for spotting purposes. Then maybe he wouldn't have recovered so fast.

cheers,
Phil

In my eperience the worst civ to deal with is Greece.
From the momment I get acquainted with Alex his is continually patronising me for having a weaker military than him, and thats just on king difficulty. I would hate to see what he coud do on Deity.

Some of you have also mentioned that Japan can be a major pain but whenever they end up in my game they are never a threat, as they never get iron or they dogpilled but every civ on the map. This happed in my last game where England (who finally did good for a change instead of going on a wonder spam) obliterated Japan out of exsistance.

Siam, so much Siam. Rammy is such a feminine little prick, always giving insane unacceptable deals and denouncing. And he shows up in EVERY SINGLE GAME.

I hate Hiawatha, Cathy, Rammy the Elephant and Bismarck. They always get big. Hiawatha builds the nuke, Cathy spams longswords who then magically become a rifle horde, Rammy buys off all the city states and flies to infinity and beyond in 1800 AD, while Bismarck is just an insecure prick who will DoW you in the moment you least expect.

I have some kind of sympathy towards Monty, his insane behaviour and suicidal wars just for the sake of it are simply adorable :D
