What Civilizations should be included ?

The fact that it didn't "do much" shouldn't matter at all, since the whole point of Civ is to give an alternate history ;)

Australia could have an Allan Border great leader that is impervious to any English attack.

Edited - two ll's apparently.

That would be kinda ammusing. Like adding stuff to the game like major sports events and if you country wins it may give you a temp bonus to happiness or something.

The nationality everyone wants to be the Irish

Walking all the day, near tall towers where falcons build their nests
Siver winged they fly, they know the call of freedom in their breasts
Soar Black Head against the sky, between the rocks that run down to the sea
Living on your western shore, saw summer sunsets, asked for more
I stood by your Atlantic sea, and sang a song for Ireland

Ah, the Irish. Who doesn't admire them? The Celts, though, mentioned more than once, includes Ireland among others.

PS: Welcome! :)

Well heres the list compiled from taking the most common choices.

The first 29 in alphabetical order.

Arabia
Aztec
Babylon
Brazil
Byzantia
Canada
Carthage
Celts
China
Egypt
England
France
Germany
Greece
Inca
India
Iroquois
Japan
Korea
Maya
Mongels
Ottoman.
Persia
Romans
Russia
Spain
USA
Vikings
Zulu

as for number 30 here is a short list of all the civilizations that got the same amount of pics each of which one would go into number 30 (I say put them all in)

Israel
Mexico
Navajo
Netherlands
Portugal
Sumeria

As you may notice from the list i thought it was best to count some nations as one for example America & USA or Russia & USSR. The logic behind that was it would be a poor choice to have both in the game at the cost of another.

Imo Sparta wasnt overall that important in world civilization; it was mostly a tyranic state, which frequently allied itself against other greek city states (as with persia) and contributed extremely little to the arts or sciences. Also it just was destroyed when thebes rised as a military force. You could think of sparta as the ancient highschool bully, who also went to a secret karate school and so became even more fierce, but not much else imho.

Wait wait wai... so this is different from the Zulus, the Mongols, or a bunch of other existing civs... how exactly? The spartan's contributions to the Persian and Peloponnesian Wars is as much as part of Greek history as any of Athens' achievements.

Not much else to say. There's already way too many civs as it is, IMHO, though having just one monolithic "mesopotamia" civ would be moronic. The only civ that I really see as "missing" from the game is Israel. The only reason why they didn't make it into the game, yet there was somehow room to fit in both Sumerians and Hittites, that I can see is that the designers were afriad of potential backlash from fundamentalists (of any group.)

'England' should be 'Britain', end of.

Errrm, 'Britain' is a bit of historical polite fiction to soothe feelings over the fact that the English, who conquered the rest of the islands some while ago, still make up 85% of the population.

By the same logic, you could rename the USA the United States of Native Americans. ;)

Himalia:

Is this a wish-list for Civ4? If so, I'll move it.

If it is *indeed* a list for Civ3, then I have 2 observations:
  1. Civ3 supports a maximum of 31 non-Barbarian civs (a hard-coded figure).
  2. Unless you mod the game, the list is fixed. Firaxis will do more patching/expansions to the game.

And this has been gone over quite a bit since the game came out 4 years ago. ;)

I suppose it could be a wish list for Civ 4. Its pretty much what i would want to see in the game if it were my choice. Move it if you feel it would be better suited to the Civ 4 section.
