What current mods would you recommend to improve gameplay?

Hello!

There seem to be a whole load of new mods coming out every day...great work you guys!

What combination of mods would you recommend or are you using that you have found improved your game? Also, are there any mods out already that are a "must-have"?

p.s. I'm not an experienced Civ player, so I'm not sure exactly what area I should be looking for mods in....I just feel like I'm missing out by not using any!

It's hard to really say. Try out a few that look interesting, see if you like them and go with those. Many of the UI mods are particularly fantastic, like magus424's Luxury Resource Display that adds a way to see how many of each you have, and how they're being used (trades, etc). There's lots of other great UI enhancements out there. You can also try out some gameplay mods to see if you prefer how the game flows, and there's some fun maps to play some games on.

A lot of these mods will probably even be incorporated into the base game eventually, that's what happened in Civ IV. I suspect some form of better plot tooltips, luxury resource display, a few gameplay changes, fixes (such as fixing the Wealth process and ancient ruin unit upgrades, two you can find in my sig) and other things will be eventually be included in some form or another, though likely not exactly as it is in any of the mods out there.
