sorry I'm not a regular player so I am probably asking something that's obvious.
am I right in seeing that the starting locations in the Earth map are not random? is it just the Europe map or is it earth and any others? what determines your location?
I started a game with Scotland, random opponents. was placed sort of south east of middle, beside a river running down to the east most water mass.
having messed up I started again the same setup and got the same location. Mongolia was just too annoying and hard to defend against.
so I started a third game, I chose the opponents, mainly peaceful nations. I got stuck up I guess Sweden way, didn't hang around long enough as I didnt like it. started another game with the same opponents. got the same location. went in and swapped out one of the opponents for another and got exactly the location I describe in the first paragraph.
so what decides who goes where?
