Hi,

What difficulty should I play Civ VI on if I want to declare war pretty much all the time and aim to win by Domination?

As a reference, I had to dial back difficulty on Civ 5 to Warlord to be able to do the same without tearing my hair (what's left of it) out.

Thanks for any insights you can give.

This question can't actually be answered by us since none of us have played the game yet.

It's just going to bait people into complaining about the apparent state of the A.I. some more.

My guess? At least prince.

On the lowest? If your only criteria is that you want to declare war all the time and dominate everyone, why would you play on a higher difficulty level?

If you stated what difficulty level in Civ V or failing that Civ IV you successfully did that, it would really help giving a starting point for Civ VI.

My wild guess for the first game is take one difficulty level off of Civ V if playing a civ in the God tier such as Rome; two levels otherwise.

My sense of it is that the more you are an aggressive, militaristic player, the more you may want to move up in difficulty. (Assuming you don't want the game to turn into a boring mopup operation by mid-game.) This looks to be the kind of human play the AI is least competent at resisting.

At higher levels, the AI will probably get more units, but that isn't all. I think warmongering penalties will provide more of a speedbump, and other victory types may provide a threat.

Gonna try multiplayer with a friend. Difficulty either Prince or King since anything below Prince seems too easy as Prince itself looks very easy (honestly, the toughest competitors are the barbs).

Thanks everyone. Civ VI definitely seems easier with wide empires than Civ 5. But it's all the war-mongering penalties I'm a bit worried about by waring and wiping out my opposition that has me worried. I guess I'll have to try it out on Prince first, and see how it goes.
