My question is what to do with over corrupted cities, those which are far away from capitol?
I can only squeeze out one or two shield out of them. They are not producing any commercial, so that brings to problem; why to build anything in it.

One option is just for culture, library and temple but that's it. I can't find any other use for them.

Please, suggest something :)

Maximise food output, then hire specialists to boost your economy. Even 2gpt from a corrupt city is better than nothing.

I hate them and quit playing Civ3 and 've no interest in getting both the Civ3 expansion.

Ideally, you'd like to irrigate and railraod every square around them (mining is pointless.) Maximize the population (6/12) as quickly as possible and then convert every citizen you can to a taxman or scientist. It's not uncommon for me to have a size 6 city with 4 specialists (generating 12 beakers of research in C3C - only 4 in vanilla, but still not bad. ;) )

Also, if you have a government with unit support on a per-city basis, build new towns as tightly as possible (CxCxC) since more towns = more unit support. I wouldn't build *any* improvements in these towns unless you've got a very good reason for doing so.

Build courthouses and police stations. Build a forbidden palace near the cities. In communism, build a Secret Poilce HQ. With all the available improvements to counter corruption, you shouldn't have *too* many 'overcorrupted cities.

If there are some which are absolutely atrocious, you could resort to hurrying production after it has worked on something for a few turns. Worker improvements are important too.

I'd say it depends. SPHQ requires Communism, so if you're Republic/Monarcy/Demo, not much use to you. :( You definitely want a Forbidden Palace. How much it's location will matter depends on your version. In Vanilla Civ, you would want the FP in the center of the corrupt cities, so it would make a new, productive core of cities. My understanding of Conquests is that the location is far less important than just having a FP and corruption calcs are still based on distance to the capital. Of course you could jump your palace to the corrupt area, but then your core would become pretty corrupt.

As far as overcorrupted, I like to check and see if the city is worth the trouble. If it's big enough, I like to see how many total shields/gold it takes to give me a 2nd uncorrupted one. If takes, say 5, then it might be worth it, but if it's still only producing 1 shield out of 10 probably not. I've had cities where I built Courthouse/Police Station/Factory/Coal Plant/Marketplace/Bank and still only came out with something like 6 gpt and 6 spt. Obviously not the best idea. :(

Cities corrupted to death (1 gold, 1 shield) may still be useful in a lot of ways:
  • Worker pump
  • Max food to support specialists
  • Unit support, unless in ptw/vanilla republic or in democracy
  • Culture boost
  • Landgrab (useful for domination victories and lots of strategic purposes)
