What do you do with your Great Scientists, Engineers, and Merchants?

Scientists: I plant the early ones, and start bulbing them around the Renaissance era.
Engineers: I tend to plant the first one or two I get, but if I'm really going for a certain wonder then I'll rush it.
Merchants: I always do a trade mission.
