I usually want some relaxing trippy music while playing - Massive Attack is a favourite. Classical music would work, too though I don't have much of it. The Dvorak symphony YNCS mentioned is wonderful, too.

Our radio, my Winamp playlist, or my CDs. Often classical, mostly good old rock like U2, Blondie, Bangles, Queen, Pink Floyd, Metallica among others, and some Pop, both new and old.

Lately for me it's been Winamp and Tori Amos, except from 10pm to 8am when it's BBC/NPR. There's something weird about hearing archaeologists on the news urging the Allies to protect Babylonian ruins because I keep thinking the ruins will disappear as soon as a worker does any improvement on that tile...

I mostly listen to Iron Maiden, KoRn, Timo Rautiainen & Trio Niskalaukaus, Nirvana and Cradle of Filth.
But when it's JYP's home game, I listen to radio from Internet, where JYP's game is coming.;)

You left out "Kids screaming and running around fighting, while the wife wants to know why the computer is more important than the kids."

Sorry. . . .wife shouting at you to stop playing civ is a little light. . .

Some times I listen to the radio, NPR or the BBC World Service news. When I listen to music it something that goes with the game eg. Wagner when I am playing as the Germans, Lee Scratch Perry when I am the Jamaicans, Hawkwind (early era) when I am the Celts.

I virtually always turn the computer sound of and listen to my own music, which ranges from rock to metal....

Seen the Red Army Chorus in concert, actually :p

I listen to all kinds of music while playing Civ, occasionally even the game's own soundtrack. Although I'm probably not alone in thinking that the modern era music is an incentive for winning before or during the industrial era in itself :mischief:

Sound effects slow my game down (old computer) so I have it turned off and listen to the radio. Mostly alternative music.

I like listening to punk rock...
my favourites are Blink 182, Sum 41, Greenday, Jimmy Eat World, Pennywise, Offspring, Boxcar Racer and Propagandhi...
Sometimes i also listens to Metallica, Papa Roach and Røyksopp

Civ 3 sound effects + Original music but when it start to disturbance me to much ('couse of constant repeat) i change it for some of my own. Usually : Mike Oldfield instrumentals (i think it's mach well with the game) ! [dance]

P.S. Another thread dig out !

Usually I listen to either Linkin Park, Green Day, or Red Hot Chili Peppers, though sometimes, that Civ music is too good to say no to... :)

I usually listen to the radio. I listen to a radio station that plays, as they put it in their commercials, "old rock and new rock."
