What do you want in Civ V?

I would like to see more customization between the different civs. Example: An English forge might not yield the exact same output as a German forge. It might yield better when producing ships, while the German forge yield better when producing land units etc...

Great idea, what if it was taken a step further and you could choose what effects it had? Like you could tell an aqueduct in a healthy but starving city to use it's water to turn mills to create more food, but at a loss of it's health effectiveness.

Anyway, seeing as how everyone loved the Maya videos, here's the first video for the others. You should be able to find the other parts from there ;)

That's all, I think. Sorry if I'm making all of your free or civ time go to youtube movies, but it might give you more insight on the things in Civ. They did for me. :)

Bring Back The Senate from Civ 1!!!!!....We accept the unrealism that "one leader" rules a civ for 6,000 years without dying...but when you choose a democratic form of civic or govt the leader should not make decisions with absolutes.....let's have a senate in those forms of government that can block a player's decisions on diplomacy and tax/production/science/culture policy unless the player has an approval rating above a certain level..like say 75%...if a player does not want an interfering senate...they should keep their people really really really happy or be a despot....

I've always thought they should overhaul and streamline transportation, specifically 'higher' transportation like rail and air. By regular roads, things should be the same - just double movement. But rail and air, rather than moving units that way, should allow strategic redeployment of a limited number of units, the amount depending on technology.

The thing with rail etc is that it depends alot on technology. All rail in the game is exactly the same, but in the real world, there's a huge difference between what you can do with a Stephenson Rocket (top speed: 29mph, can haul about 30 tons) and, say, an SD70 diesel-electric (top speed 70mph, can haul thousands of tons). Strategic redeployment could let you increase the number of units you could redeploy depending on your technology, and thus represent the development of advanced infrastructure and transportation technology. It would also cut back on micromanagement a bit.

Mostly this game is already like a wishlist come true - they included hexes and brought back ranged bombardment, so I haven't got much else to root for.

I'd like to see the AI grovel more when they're really beat. That's about all I can think of.

Oh! Yes! How could I forget? Bring back the throne room/palace view! I know it was just graphical, but it could be implemented differently. You could choose different bits and get some minor, civ-wide benefits depending on which bits you choose. It's pathetic, but I really miss the token sense of accomplishment/reward you got from the throne room or palace. Like a dog getting a biscuit, lol. Pathetic but it's no fun when you just take the biscuit away!

1) Dutch language version > better accessability for my kids.
2) More female units
3) More moments when your own leader is visible, despite the 'first person' perspective.
4) More diversity in terrain; passable mountains, cliffs & canyon, volcano, atol island. Would fit well with the more detailed terrain graphics.
5) Information depth as provided by the Bug/Bat mod.
6) more arts should be represented in the build queue. Not only architectural stuff but also paintings, music, sculpture, theatre plays. Even if these cannot be represented on the map they can be present in the diplomatic screens, and in the audio,... somehowe

I would like navies to actually matter. As it stands now it is not worth the large shield/hammer investment to produce and maintain a large navy. Part of this has to do with the way that the earlier Civ games have been set up and part of it has to do with how the AI uses its navies.

Oh, and one more, as I say in my signature

7) Julius Caesar should wear a proper senatorial toga, and not this purple pyjama's thing he is wearing in Civ IV.

Double post...
