Currently, "liking" a post is our only option as a non reply response to specific posts. From time to time I see remarks about "likes" and how they might reflect aspects of the posts liked or the liker. So what do you think "liking a post means? Could it mean more than one thing at a time? Multiple answers may be selected.

I checked several boxes. I believe there should be more options other than "like" including one for disagreeing with someones comment. I don't want CF to turn into a Reddit where people downvote others on a whim but more options would be nice, as to whether the audience here will use them is open to discussion.

In the context of posting within forums and reddit (well, more so called "upvotes"). I see "liking" a post as approving the content of the post itself. In some cases, feel that I like the content that I feel that I don't need to add in an ongoing discussion or feel that my contributions are up to par.

There are several other cases that get an “automatic” like from me,

People that make their first post, the welcome-like.

Posts that make me laugh.

Posts that contain information that is new to me, or direct replies to a question I asked.

The “roger that” like - to indicate I read the post and the information therein is understood.

Well written posts or unusually polite posts.

I have no use for the entire "Like" system. I never click the "Like" button and I pay no attention to the "Like" bar that appears after the posts. I do not use any host, other than CFF, that uses any such system. If someone has a response, I think they should post it not use a no content "like".

I don't. I dislike the mob effect of such concepts.

If I did, it would be either because I agree with the post, or I find it interesting/funny.

I use it because it's there, but honestly I'd rather it wasn't. Reminds me too much of social media.

I give a like to a post if it is funny; if it puts an observation in a concise, pointed fashion; or if I find it thoughtfully developed.

In the Llamast jokes thread, Uncle Sparky has to outdo himself. Plenty of his posts are perfectly funny, but they have to be "better than Uncle Sparky funny" to get a like.

Sorry, Uncle Sparky. That's just the way it is. You've got no one to blame but yourself.

It means that i like the post 😆
