The topic is simple enough: What games do you play? If at all possible, reccomend games for others, as I will do. Preferably free games that you have no vested interest in, other than spreading the joy and not advertising.
For me, I play a little Starcraft here and there, plenty of Halo 2, A little Oblivion when I can, and other assorted console games. The main reason I play Civ 3 is that it's one of the few games that won't stress my wretched computer.
As for web games, I have been playing a game called "Battle for Wesnoth" that is wildly addicting. It's a turn-based hex game. The fantasy setting and plote are annoying (screw elves I hate them) and are a bit of a turn off, however once you get started this is easily forgiven. The combat here is both simple to grasp and complex to deal with. The game focuses on battles, and not empire management, so it's no Civ game. Nonetheless it's very professional. The turn based play is quite the timesuck. I've done two of the campaigns over the course of about 2 weeks, and there are plenty more for downloading, and a fairly active forums. Also it's free, and generally doesn't suck. The download is nearly half a gig though. http://www.wesnoth.org/

Another fantastic little game I play is called "Warning Forever." It's a fast, quick ship shooter game where you race the clock to get the highest score/highest level by killing boss after boss after boss. Also the bosses "adapt" to a certain extent to your strategy and play style. It also saves your replays, so you can watch yourself against the bosses. Hey it's also free. Although the site features a mix of Japanese and Engrish, the game itself is both free and painfree. This download is under 3/4 of a megabyte, so it's a good quickie. My highscores are level 15, and 14,733,300.
