What gets you in the mood for CiV?

For me, it's watching Netflix on the couch, and stumbling upon a historical documentary. Ken Burn's documentaries are really good for this, especially his series on WWII. Watching those battle strategies just makes me want to jump into a game of CiV. Once in a while I start thinking "C'mon, Japan, why'd you waste all those units against fortified American troups?!" or something equally civ-esque. :lol:

What makes you hungry for CiV?

Alcohol, no doubt... and heavy metal.
...which is the reason I have been a member for 3 years but have not posted a single post. =)

Reading history or talking about it usually gets me in the mood. I find myself saying "Hmm...I should play civ" a LOT.

Having a good game 'on the go' is all I need. They typically last a week for me.

Last night I was getting a few turns in, when Babylon decides to attack. I beat them back, and pushed them back into Babylon itself and took it. There was a mountain blocking the way, and they had the Great Wall, so going was hard, but finally a Great General was used to build a citadel to ease the progress of new troops. Many of our archers and swordsmen died that century. They will long be remembered in song, tribute and statues.

But Babylon is now OURS!

I went off to bed a very happy camper :king:

Woo! Alcohol! :beer:

And heavy metal! :band::rockon:

As for the topic question. I am not sure. The mood is always there, and sometimes I start it up, play for 20 turns and not feel in the mood, and stop. Yet I always go back and try again not long after... sometimes this process goes on and on...

Definitely watching history documentaries on Netflix. especially the WW2 in color and saying hey ! I could have done better lol

I cycle through various gaming phases, and when the urge for an XXXX-game strikes, it's usually time to boot up Civ. (Unless I have a craving for a space XXXX, which I usually address with SE4 or something similar.) I almost exclusively play Huge/Marathon games, on a slow laptop, so a single game can last weeks or longer. By the time I've finished, I'm usually ready for a new phase--RPG or rogue-style, typically--and Civ goes back to bed for a few months. :)

Playing fast paced games and being tired. Also, reading Dan Brown's Inferno made me want to play the Byzantine and Venetians.

Story of my life :D though I love challenges and I get the most fun from reading guides on here.

When I read about an interesting strategy and/or begin thinking of my future plans in a current game.

After a good game of COD I think , hey how about getting strategic !!
