I wasn't exactly sure to put this in here or GD but I decided to put it here. I just want to know which graphics card is the best for CIV because my current card isn't good enough according to the "Can you Run it?" test on Gamespot. And also, is 1 GB of RAM good enough?

Sorry for bump, but could someone pleeeeease tell me? Is the recommended on the box good enough or what? I really want to play CIV and BTS!

i have a NVIDIA GeForce FX 5700 LE (128 mb) i would definatley recomend a 128 (the one i mentioned --- you could probably find it using shopzilla.com for ~$60 - $70)

yes, one 1gig RAM is fine too (personally, i am running with 1.5 gigs)

if you decide to get an nvidia card...nvida recomends their geforce 6 seires card. if you go the ati route...my bust guess would be to get a x1300 - x1600 series card.

Chip Type:Intel 82845G/GL Chip
I remember that one! Just about any video card is an improvement! I know from experience that it won't run Civ 4.

The Transform and Lighting (TnL) thread has a chart of video cards which work with Civ 4. http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=133278

Keep in mind that the chart is over a year old, so more recent cards will not be listed. But you can be pretty sure that more recent cards will work.

One good way to find out what type of video card slot you have (AGP or PCI-E) is to use Crucial's System scanner ( http://www.crucial.com ). It will advise you on ram also.

Determine what slot you have and then get back to us.

Hope this helps,

It says "We were unable to determine what type of graphics card your system supports."

Its an 845 chipset which is AGP but best to look inside (OEMs like to remove AGP slots to save a couple cents). It should be a brown slot at the top of the white slots.

You should open up your computer case, look at the sticker on the power supply unit and right down whats on it. If your power supply unit is crappy/weak (if you bought a computer premade odds are it is) and you get a decent video card it might not have enough amps to support it.
