What happens when you get banned?

Im just curious, since i have never been banned. Can you still enter the forums? Can you still edit your profile, stuff like that.

I was banned once, but was able to insult the mod in question before the ban was active. So a ban appearently needs to be activated? AFAIK PM-ing is still possible when banned. Moderators are open for discussion (and apologies) by PM. In many cases they will ask TF to unban or shorten the ban, after an apologee / explination.

Don't know about those serving a finite sentence, but I have it on good authority that the bodies of perm-banned posters are processed for harvest of their valuable soilent green, while their departed souls are given over to Lefty in case he ever feels like a midnight snack

I've been banned twice w/o warnings and my ban hasn't been reduced even though I apologized to mods AND to TF
anyways, being banned SUCKS. You can't post anymore but you can still PM. It's very frustrating.

My two week ban was lifted after pm-ing the mod.

Yup, he is far more reasonable than many think. Though I do not always agree with his moderating style.
The fact I was unbanned proves he is very strict, but fair.

On the occasions I have been banned it means:

I can't read/post on the civfanatics forums.


Which is a pretty dull experience and so my advise is don't get banned, follow the forum rules and don't annoy the moderators.

Being a close pal of TF wouldn't hurt neither

Well I've had my IP banned a few times, so I know what it is like to get a 'perm-ban'. An interesting experience, you get a message that says, "You cannot access this forum as your IP address has been banned, please click HERE for assistance"

You click on the link and a timer appears on your screen, once it reaches zero, 5 guys in black suites break down your door, throw you in a barrel of government issue tar then stick your head in a feather pillow case.

And interesting experience......and one that I quite enjoyed

Just coming off my ban....

Well Iwas banned for two weeks. I was pretty mad in the chatroom so everyone in there told me to PM thunderfall for a shortended ban. I got one week.
It still felt like eternity.
No posts, you can't edit youre profile, you cant even look at someone else's user info. All you can do is read posts and send PM'ss.
( it also really stinks when you are banned and you are in NES' like me!)
