starting with civ 3 is the classical music soundtrack i hope they keep that music in civ 5

i still love the industrial soundtrack for civ4. So much so, that at one point I copied all the files and burned them on a disc and sometimes listen to it in the car. Its been so long since civ3 I can't even remember the music.

I have all the Civ3 music on my iPod Touch. Also, like Ive said before in a thread LONG ago, it would be really nice to add a built in music editor. One where you can add tracks, delete tracks (not the file, just stop it from playing), and change which ones play in the different eras. They should also include all previous civ music as an optional add-on. There should even be a way to change how often each track plays.

if you read the official forums or was it in the podcasts or both, anyway, the music in Civ5 will still have classical pan music like that of Civ4's begging, WHICH WAS FANATASTIC, and as for other ingame music they have different types of classical music from different regions of the world. So if you play China I guess you'll have classical Chineese music, If you play France, you'll have traditional classic French music. Or perhaps it will just switch between all types during ingame. Music was a big project for them and they believe they have done well, including many hours of recorded brand new music.

I think after playing all the Civ games that I'm at a point where I'd rather hear era neutral songs than music that actually fits the era. It's not that I don't appreciate all the diversity, but considering how much time is spent in the earlier eras compared to the late it's easy to get tired of the tracks heard most often.

I'm thinking of stuff like Baba Yetu or songs similar to what we've seen in the Settlers games as of late (Settlers 2 Anniversary Edition, Settlers 7). Just songs that are more smooth, and relaxing overall except when broken by combat.

Was that a vote for Baba Yetu as the kind of music you want for "era neutral throughout the game", or a vote against, you weren't perfectly clear. If you meant that you want Baba Yetu constantly playing throughout the Entire Civ5 (or atleast the option to only play Babu Yetu put in the options menu, great Idea, thanks.) Then I completely agree with you, you sir are practically a genious. With thinking like that you should apply for Mensa. However if you for some unfathomable reason were saying that Baba Yetu should be out then I think you need to seek medical advice. I think however you did mean Baba Yetu should be in Civ5 (if not the only music as an option DEFINITELY!) which is as I said is border line Stephen Hawking Intellect.

Sorry I meant that Baba Yetu (best song of Civ 4) would be all era appropriate haha. I wouldn't want it to play exclusively, but would love to have it and a number of tracks like that to set a relaxed mood when things were peaceful between nations in all eras.

I'm not sure if you played Civ:Rev on the consoles, but it was so frustrating that Baba Yetu was in the game when you were hovering over tribal huts but that was the only time you could hear it. I'll admit, there were times that I hovered for awhile just to hear the song. :)

what was more frustrating in civ-rev was when those advisors popped up and made you want to throw something at the TV because they sound so annoying, be-bobo-may-shulaba!-pee diik lopaaa geynhifk!.
Really ruins any audio, thankfully civ5 leaders will speak in actual languages which although may sound strange if you've never heard the language or aren't used to it, atleast it won't sound like gobbledy guup.

Gotta love the irish pan music for relaxing peace music.

as long as it's possible to use your own mp3 folders i really dont care about the soundtrack.

I'm all for good music, but what would really be fantastic is the return of Leonard Nimoy.

I doubt they repeat Leonard Nimoy, but I'm sure they'll find someone else famous/good for it since almost everyone loved that small surprise in cIV.

And I'm sure there will be many other surprises (link the newly announced "easter Egg unit").

What I allways loved in civ was the civilopedia...
And my favourite was from Civ 1. I don't know why... maybe because of the presentation/design of the entries. I prefer "hand drawn symbols/Icons/images", which seamlessly integrate into the game design, to real photos and clips.
Or maybe it's because I was younger and easily impressed.

I'm starting to think that I'm the only person that didn't like the Leonard Nimoy voiceovers. Seriously I thought he sounded so unbelievably bored. Morgan Freeman would have been better.

i want sir arthur conan doyle!!!

I thought Nimoy was good, but the guy in the expansions sucked, he didnn't have any felling at all.

I'd give a vote for Freeman though

That would be game developer extraordinaire Sid Meier. Regrettably, he's not the voice actor extraordinaire Nimoy is.

It's even more unlikely that Spock will make a comeback, as he's retired from acting.
