What is a good way to move aircraft across continents?

Given that I have all the good +XP buildings on continent A but a war is on continent B that is quite far away?

Seems like carrier is just a 10 turn micro to move 3 planes

I think you'll find that the only way to move your planes is with an aircraft carrier. That is what they are for in the game and in real life after all. Just make sure you defend them of course!

I guess you could also settle a city on an ocean island but that is map dependent.

I usually use a chain of carriers stationed at positions that serve as landing-and-takeoff points.

Yeah, the micro of air unit movement is painful. I'd be willing to give up the air unit for some number of turns where the number is the equivalent of the tile distance divided by the range. Like how a unit you gift to a city state reappears after a few turns in their territory, except the delay is related to the distance.
