What is considered cheating?

I have a friend who just finished a
Diety game that gave him around 1200%.
I let him reload one time because he
was disturbed by a telephone salesman.

Is that cheating ??

I think that reloding in a multiplayer game is cheating. But not in a singel player game.

i think that wouldn't be cheating. cheating would be like pulling down the cheat options and using those.

This is how my friend cheats in multiplayer: He saves the game, and loads it as single player. Then he goes to the cheat menu, reveal map to see his enemies. Don't use this! It's cheap!

Cheating = Using the cheat menu. Using a cheat program. Editing the game in any way is cheating.

reloading in single player is technically cheating if you are submitting the game to the HoF (Hall of Fame). If you are just playing a single player game for the heck of it, who cares if you cheat.
Multiplayer, anything that you do that gives you an advantage that the game designers didn't intend for you to use, is cheating. This includes reloading a saved mp game and looking at the map of someone else, or at the status of their empire.

The game didn't count because i thought settlers couldn't take cities. There was a thread about settlers taking cities, but the person who said that said the settler was on "automate".

Thankyou for telling me the reason! I try not to cheat but sometimes I will reload a game because it is sometimes more fun to reload. This is because it is better than watching your whole army get destroyed and then have to rebuild it.

It was on a medium world map. I was germans, he was romans. I send my warrior and got an archer. Then I disband my archer in my city to make settlers faster. My archer went to his city and attacked it, but he had 2 defenders. He sent his settler and took my undefended city.

I thought settlers could only conquer cities by accident, but i guess i'm wrong!

Ha. I always end up taking over enemy cities with engineers/settlers because when I waste a cities' defenses but have no more military units to move into it (they've all moved) those guys are always hanging around waiting for something to do so I send them over by rail.
