As the title says, what are the easiest settings to notch a first win in Civ7 in the final era on Deity difficulty?

Should I start in the final era, or are there benefits from starting earlier?

Is it easier on a big map or a small map?

Lots of AI players or fewer (perhaps only one)?

Which Victory Condition is easiest to get as the human player against Deity level AI?

Any other suggestions from players who have won on Deity?

Nothing? Where are the early Civ7 Deity players at?

I mainly want to know for the achievement. I have no intention of regularly playing deity, but I want that achievement. I thought about just creating a tiny map with 2 civs, but it's possible the other civ will end up in the distant lands. I imagine if you straight up conquer the only remaining civ, the game will end in victory.

haha, turns out that achievement was ridiculously easy. 2 opponents, tiny map. Deity ai just can't defend itself.

As for the question of modern age, yeah culture. Although I don't know how viable that is on deity. They are aggressive with the explorers. But also building over your old buildings will help with relics. Develop your empire in the cultural direction and aim to get the explorer civic first.

Does anyone else have any thoughts on this? Would picking a militaristic leader/civ in Antiquity and stomping straight over one other civ on a tiny map work?

It does, I saw a video before release where it happened. It‘s not a very rewarding thing to do, however, as it seems. If you select a leader and civ without much military bonuses (e.g., Aksum with José Rizal), you can just roll over.

Possibly not worrying about finding a methodical way to win on Deity.

Playing a typical game, I’d say just not to worry about AI yields being higher than yours. I haven’t heard one way or the other if the AI will actually finish a victory condition, so you might have more time than you think (I chose not to test that proposition).

Pick cities that you can defend, don’t worry about losing a few settlements in war, but if you do, if you fight out a defensive war you can usually go and reclaim any that aren’t now part of your enemies core after their army is defeated. Siege and/or ships are needed (for me) to capture any larger city.

And play like normal, building the things you’d normally build to grow your empire. The AI can do this while also building an army, whereas your army will only be helpful if you can conquer developed cities. A handful of units can hold off on defense until you buy/produce more.

It turns out the Playing God achievement can be completed in the Ancient Era. There is a good guide on Steam.

I’m in my first deity game and just went into Exploration age. I feel the difficulty is way lower than 5 or 6 tbh. Granted I haven’t won yet, but I’m not trailing behind at all. Give it a try!

I think economic is the easiest and fastest most consistently no matter the leader/civ combo — culture can be faster but it’s RNG depending on where artifacts spawn. The longest and most tedious is military. Even with commanders saving clicks, it’s a lot because every district can be walled. Science is straightforward but generally longer because of more steps, unless you use a science powerhouse like Confucius and rip it.

I'd say in the current state of the game, culture is not so random. If you beeline to hegemony, you could pick when and where reveal antiquity artifacts, grabbing most of them.
