Vomity smells and there was this "rotting paint" smell as I described that was so bad it wouldn't leave me and I would alwasys "resmell" by remembering it. Ugh I could barely eat for days.

An amazingly hot American woman I used to know 7 years ago. Zoinks, did she smell bad! Actually, now that I think of it, I smelled something before which was so foul, that it was amazingly foul. Unfortunately, I cannot provide details.

Brings to mind images of the ark being sealed away like in Indiana Jones...You have to open it at least once! Dare your friends to or trick them into it or something. Whatever hell is inside of there is just too disgusting not to be used in some sort of joke!

Body odor doesn't smell that bad, and this comes from a guy who doesn't shower.
When I worked in a hospital, they found two people who had been dead for several months and brought them into the morgue. The whole basement of the hospital stank from the bodies.
We went on vacation for a month last year, and the cleaning lady came the day after we left and decided to save us some money on the electricity bill by switching off our refrigerator. That smell wasn't nearly as bad.

Well, besides the obvious (human waste and the like), I would have to go with . . . wine. Smells like garbage; you know, rotting fruit.
Actually, the food waste on the dishline where I worked in my college's dinin hall, freshman year, probably was the worst. It was your typical garbage, but there was a lot of it.
And Old Town Alexandria. I was just thinking that, as I went outside to mail something. The whole neighborhood reeks.

Skunk spray. Nothing worse in my experience. Cat urine is like potpourri (sp?) in comparison.

There is nothing as bad as rotting human bodies. Nothing.
Oh I disagree. I remember my dog coming home after being skunk'd. It was awful. But no where near as bad as changing a confined litter box.

I don't know, but there is something that's absolutely positively different about the smell of deer, racoon, cow, camel, goat carcasses from human carcasses. The smell of dead humans is distinctly different. When you get a waft of it, you know it's dead human bodies.
There's GOTTA be someone else on this forum that will attest to this.

When younger, I used to have summer jobs doing grunt work at an aquaculture facility. There, I encountered a lot of olfactory stimulation. The most intense was as follows:
A large plastic container (several cubic meters) had been filled with dead fish and a lot of ice, then placed in a refrigerated storage room that was otherwise not used for much since we had a newer, fancier and larger room. Then, the refrigeration unit failed, and nobody noticed for... quite a while. During high summer. By the time anyone noticed, the container was filled with a sort of soup of semi-dissolved rotten fish, and maggots. Obviously, the task of cleaning this up fell to me (and another high-school kid who was also working there).

A vile odour on a northern beach of Lake Michigan. It smelt like a bonfire made of skunk.
