What is the worst game/type of game?

Worst game? Hm... Final Fantasy VII.

No, I kid the FF fans! Really, put down the pitchforks, guys. ;)

I can't really tell anyone the worst game, because I do my best to avoid them. I can't give anyone the worst genre either, because it's unfair to dismiss an entire class of games like that. Now, I don't mean avoiding Resident Evil because you're squeamish, but if any of you don't play sports games just because they're a sports game, or RPG's just because they're billed as RPG's, well... grow up. It's one thing to not play a game due to personal preference, labeling a game or genre the "worst" is simply puerile. -_-

There still hope on these forums.....*tear*

I can't really claim what the worst genre is, because usually I can understand why someone will like them.

Similarly, I usually manage to get some form of enjoyment out of terrible games because I'm laughing at how ridiculous it is. Take Trespasser for instance, awful, awful game, but it's hard not to laugh as a T-Rex chases you down (by sliding along the ground with it's move unhinged) as you're arm (The Arm...THE ARM >shudder<) waggles about as if it has no bone structure. And that's without shooting a weapon.

Trespasser was indeed God awful but iirc it contained an incredibly advanced physics engine which ultimately influenced the engines of games such as Far Cry and Half Life 2

I answered this question thinking about me and me alone ... I don't know why you guys are so pissed at some not liking a particular genre. Its all in the gamer's choice.

All that said I dont like football games because the controls suck. I love sports games but not football ones. :)

The objection was that the question wasn't merely "least favorite game/genre," which is fine, or even "most overrated," but outright "worst game/genre," which implies more objectivity than is reasonable. Few people who don't review games for a living, like the guys at GameSpot, have played many really bad games. Once you get close to the bottom, it gets tough to differentiate between them anyway. ;)

In any case, these types of threads almost always fail because nobody gives a reason for their answer. They just come in, post a laundry list, say to themselves, "Postcount + 1! W00t!" and never check the thread again. Many moons ago, I actually tried to start a "best ev4r" thread to encourage actual discussion - here - but with mixed success.

I've never understood the "RPG"-genre. Roleplaying is not about what you play, but how you play it. Therefore I would probably call that my least favourite genre. The games billed as "RPG" are however not necessarily worse than other games.

Jumping on the many-sports-games-suck-in-single-player bandwagon, though.

The Trespasser physics engine reminds me of heavy duty drinking nights.
When you decide to order a custom cocktail, because you lost all your reading skills a few drinks back and can't remember the names of regular drinks, then the world starts to behave like the Trespasser engine.
You give clear input into the system, but the output is nothing like what you wanted.

As for the OP: I dislike Action adventures, mostly because they ruined the classic adventure market.

any thing that is a first-person shooter....
Doom, FF7 Dirge of Cerberus, or Red Faction.....
... your kidding right?... well the only first-person shooter games that suck are the ones that never show your face and/or name... like in Medal of Honor Frontline... the only time you see your face is at the wanted posters...that sucks big time  ... (This isnt trolling...right?)

Medal of Honor Frontline is awesome. I love to take out whole divisions of Germans.

No it isnt... it says AI is good but it isnt... I mean when u shoot a nazi in his head he falls on his knees... look at the blood... then fall down... at the last mission is ****ed up.... I mean it gets messy... what kinda idiot runs up with a bazooka?... Then in that 1 train level there is a poster saying your wanted for like 5,000,000 but then you walk up to a gaurd, who probably already saw the sign since he was there for like 10 hours and he acts like your his ally... and I could just keep going on...

Pft, you think the Brits have it hard, I would like to draw your attention to what tends to happens to the Scots in war films :( Just think of the Mole in the Great Escape :(

I'm actually waiting for a WW2 FPS where the main character isn't a yank, but I doubt it'll happen. Always wondered what it'd be like to play on the German side, but I'm almost certain that WON'T be made heh

I think eventually one will be made. You can only storm Normandy so many times.

For other perspectives, try the Call of Duty series. That's got the Russians and Brits as well as the Americans. And you actually feel like you're part of an army, not just one man.

Thats true, as the games progress I think it's becoming now that more and more emphasis is put on your squad.

heh if I was going to die then I suppose I'd like to go like that.
