Warning! This is pretty odd…
Imagine you’re a nobleman or knight in ancient republican Rome (Before 25 B.C.), what would your name be if you could make up your own family?
There is a rule however!
Your full name must have a praenomen (surname), a nomen (last name/ family name) and a cognomen (a third name of some special meaning)
Like this: Gnaeus (praenomen) Pompeios (nomen) Strabo (cognomen)
My name would be:
Caius Delerius Maximus or Quintus Fanaticus Mujahidinicus

Heh, heh…

Marcus Phillipus Surulius

Lefty: I took Latin for a year or two. If my memory is correct, a name that ends in an "a" is a woman's name!

Ricardus Primus Magnus

Look me up in the encyclopedia or a Roman legedarium. Scaevola in a clan cognomen meaning left handed. Britannica will have 2 or 3 Scaevola's in it. Although First declension nouns are usually feminine, some few are masculine.

Edit: looked it up Scaevola/ae is m

'a' is feminine for ROMAN praenomina and usually nomina, too, but NOT necessarily for cognomina. That depends on what the word was derived from. Examples? Sulla, for one!

me:

there is no classical Roman equivalent of my fisrt name so i have to latinize it, same goes for the family name
