What is your best game so far?

Gilgamesh - Domination Victory - Deity Duel Marathon versus Victoria - Pangaea High Seas - Score 53 - Dan Quayle

I just wanted a very quick War Cart spamming game. Captured one of Victoria's original three Settlers, but my Warrior and the stolen Settler got trapped on a single tile peninsula with Defense 3 terrain. Victoria tried to kill my Warrior, but eventually gave up and I was finally able to make peace. I later captured one of her Builders (with 2 charged left) too.

The starting tile had two horse plots 2 tiles away (one N and one S); I settled in place. I eventually researched Horseback Riding and built two Horsemen. I built a total of 6 War Carts. Lost 2 War Carts and original Warrior trying to destroy Victoria's military after her failed attack on my capital with 6 Warriors.

The odd thing was Victoria's units were entering my borders without Open Borders or a state of War. After a couple of turns with two of her units right next to my city center, she declared a surprise War and the units stayed where they were. Must be a bug of some kind. A City State unit also entered my borders too; there's no reason that I can think of for that to be allowed either.

I captured one of her cities just after it finished a Settler; so that was the second and final Settler I captured; never had time to use or spare a military unit to escort it. A few turns before I surrounded her Capital, she generated a Great Prophet. It was in her Capital when I captured it. It appears that destroyed the Great Prophet. Can other Great People be captured?

Anyway, it was a nice short game where I learned to use War Carts in a war of attrition (mainly her units were lost).

Early in the game everyone has open borders. Your borders aren't enforced until you've researched Early Empire.

That's good to know. One can move right next to a city, declare war and capture it right away with foot soldiers prior to Early Empire. One can also explore rival territory prior to Early Empire with impunity. Sounds broken from the perspective of playing Civ IV. Does Civ V allow this too in some form?

In my experience you teleport out of open borders when declaring, also before Early Empire. But prior to Early Empire borders are mostly only one tile and you can get close enough to attack the city the same turn you declare anyway. In your example, it is possible her units teleported out of your borders when she declared, then moved back during her turn.

Ok, you are probably probably right. Her units were in the same position as just prior to declaring war and they probably didn't attack my city. So, they probably teleported out and she just moved them back in the same position, but I did not see them move at all.

Deity/Continents/Small/Standard America CV Turn 291 post-patch. I'm sure I can improve on that though as I'm still building things just for the sake of experimentation.

First Diety win, first Diety game. Germany, regular speed, regular size inland sea. Spawned in between Sumeria and Scythia. Rushed to archers, built 4, and took out Sumeria and a city state. Built total of 8 cities in a reasonable grid while defending against a DOW from Scythia. Ran to apprenticeship then industrialization. Got the Factory network going and got knights and siege towers. Took one city from Scythia with this but that was it. By then the Hansa machine was in full gear though. Built campuses everywhere, and fairly quickly went from 6th in science to 1st. Rushed to Combustion, saved $$$, and instantly upgraded 8 knights to tanks. Tanks plus siege towers. LOL. Down went Scythia, down went China, down went Rome. Kongo and Arabia, however, pulled out mech infantry armies (this is ~turn 250). So back to the bait shop. Science per turn was now well ahead of everyone else, so just rushed to composites, and fission, while again saving $$$. Instant upgrade of tank armies to modern armor armies. Modern armor armies plus siege towers. LOLOLOLOL. Game turn 286. Score was only about 1100. Funniest sight: a modern armor unit that I had sent out to scout and find Brazil getting swarmed by barb mech infantry. Other interesting aside: I never even bothered getting a religion. Instead, my territory ended up being the playing field for a huge religious war between Scythia and Arabia and Brazil, which none of them really won, so no one got close to a religious victory.

GR Pericles Culture Victory on Deity at Tiny Map, Online Speed, 2000AD after 45hrs of playtime

Even though I've only played Civ 5 and Civ 6, my best game I ever had was with the brand new Civ Poland in Civ 6. Took down Norway and Germany on my own continent and got lucky to be left alone for the rest of the game until the last 50-75 turns and I won the Science victory as Poland. Poland can into space.

These are my accomplishments so far. Please comment.

Hi all, newbie here. Last time I played Civ was more than 20 years ago.

After 4 games in total, my best game is the one I just finished with a score of 10,572
(Score Victory, Prince, Marathon, Pangea, Huge, all other advanced settings at standard leading to 11 AI's and 20 City states, played between January and today).
(Saladin, Divine Spark, Zen Meditation, Papal Primacy, Scripture, Mosque)

I guess I am an empire builder by nature.
My goal was to get full utilisation of all the tiles with the biggest empire possible, all cities happy, with 100% religious citizens of my founded religion, all buildings possible build and adequate housing for all.
I founded 49 cities and purchased (10k or 30x833 each) or conquered the AI cities for a total empire of 139 cities.
I got them all happy, but the other goals only for 95% and housing even worse.

Denniz,
I made use of a feature of the Industrial zone, of which I am not sure whether it is intended to function the way it apparently does:
If your Industrial zone is under construction, you already get the City State type bonus of for example Hong Kong or Buenos Aires: xyz towards buildings.
It does not always function directly after founding a zone, but after a save and load it always functions.
So the question is:
Did I remedy a glitch by save-load or did I exploit a bug ???
Whereby noted that you cannot really avoid the exploit because you cannot play 1500 turns without loading.
An answer is appreciated because I am eager to start my next run.
