I've always thought it would be cool to visit Middle-Earth or Discworld.

But seriously; a perfect world eh? One where the barriers of patriotism have been brought down. One in which people actually care about what is happening outside their backyard. And Peace, no poverty etc, that kind of thing.

We should aspire to a world of far advanced, clean, efficient and sustainable technology;

a stable population, where everyone can enjoy a high standard of living without exploiting or harming each other;

biodiversity and wilderness preserved, while feeding and providing for everyone without wastage or misappropriation;

open and participatory democracy at all levels of society;

a fair and incorruptible justice system;

prioritization of science, art, literature and music;

a dynamic and outward-looking manned space program!

That should take care of all evils that now plague the earth (yes, that includes religion, politics, fanaticism, fundamentalism etc. etc. almost anything that you can think of).

1. Democratic political unit of Earth with juristiction over all regions on the planet and in orbit thereof, in competition with fictional rivals, and with no power to police the public.

1a. Select individuals, nominated by accademics and selected by referendum, to have the life-long power to veto acts of tyrany.

2. Democratic national Assemblies/Parliaments/Congress with control of economic, cultural and policing matters only.

I am reminded of an old story in which the various ambassadors to the U.S were asked one christmas by a newspaper what they would like for christmas. Most of them gave answers along the lines of; "world peace" or "an end to famine" and so on. The British ambassador, however, replyed that he would like "some slippers and good book".

An United Earth Republic. The world would have a very decentralised goverenment allowing large differeneces in policy to adapt to different cultures and regons.

One world language. Most likely Mandarin Chinease, or English.

High Speed trains connecting all cities with a land connection. One could board a train in Paris and be rushed to Beijing.

The world's conflicts are founght in the political and legal arena rather then on the battlefield.

A world that toke most money spent on defense and spent it on education, a quality free education available to anyone.

A world devoted to Space Exploration, and scientific progress.

A world that is treated with respect by it's human inhabitants.
