Hey guys, just found this board. Awesome. I`ve been playing damn Civ2 for years, then stopped, now again ... I`m curious :
what`s your record percentage score ?

I did 301% couple of years ago, I have a nice position now to do better. We`ll see ...

Have fun !

I'm not really sure, but it's probably 400-500. I seldom try to get a high score, since it's pretty boring to do everything perfect all the time. :(

I think the best I did at Prince was about 420-something.
Never got too far above 300 in Warlord or Chieftain, and I'm still having a fun time trying to stay alive on the King level.

mine was at King level. Jesus, how big was your empire when you had 420% on Prince. I`m asking this because when i did over 300% i was on King level and i had city on just about every place it coudl be built , all cities were over 25 citizens and i had absolutely everything built and researched ... Does it give you extra points if you finish at earlier age, say 1700 ?

The time you finish doesn't matter, only those listed when you press F9. The percentage is calculated from that score, and differs a little from each level.

Population is really just about the most important thing for the score. The points for the spaceship and all wonders should be a given, if you're going for highscore.

My best ever is 238% at Prince level. The best way to maximise score is to get your population to 320 million (the max), change to Democracy a bunch of turns before the end and set the Luxury rate to 100%, get every city to celebrate and get as many happy citizens as possible.

Of course, my best isn't even close to your best so I don't know why I'm even trying to explain you anything. :o

Here's my current game that's being primed for the HOF.

1620 AD, only about 140 cities thus far. The tech tree is almost done while being at 10% science for the last couple decades. A tech every four turns at 10%, plus freight deliveries. I'm making 10,000 gold profit per turn.

495% on chieftain, i had like 280 cities, max population, 90 extra sciences and everyone was happy cause i had luxury at 80%

awesome. You guys rock. I`m playing at King level, with (i believe) most straightforward strategy - I build Great Wall, Pyramids and Great Library, push with tech until I get the chance to build a Statue of Liberty while building as many cities as I can in peace, then switch to fundamentalism, slow science down, get money, send diplomats around and buy cities, very little military action. After I shake up everybody well and get them down to 2-3 cities I boost science again, build more cities (around 50 at that point) , send some armies to take out the strong cities and leave only one civ with one city on the map. It`s all details from then, boring boring but what can you do :) I do not believe in democracy much, I strongly believe that this is the least painful way to beat the game with the high score, but hey I learn stuff every day :) Have Fun !

My highest score on the King Level was around 250%. I built up my main island until I had a formidable navy. By controlling the seas, and preventing anyone from getting close to my main island, I expanded rapidly by building cities and conquering three other civs. Once I had my spacehip built (totally, the biggest with 40,000 settlers), I waited to launch it until threatened by someone else's launch. I accumulated tons of points on future tech, high happiness, lots of $$$ and if I didn't build a wonder, I conquered the city it was in.

I'm now working on my Emperor Level score (I've only completed a few games on this level -- it sucks that the computer has no fear of nuking you at this level).

Jeez Duke, that's a rather splendid score i must say!

How the hell do you accomplish that??

Hmm, never tried playing the game like that before, i should give it a go :D

gmazz - first, welcome to the Jungle! lol

I think I had about 250+ cities, almost every one of them maxed out on pop. I had conquered every other Civ except the Sioux, who I used as a pet city, at about 1780. Went direct into Democracy, scaled back the armies, lavished attention on the Sioux, and held back on launching my spaceship until 2008. Trust me, I've never gotten close to 400 again.

After all, I'm not the Duke -- he's one of the best.

According to my personal HOF, I had a 615% approval rating in a King level game. This was GOTM 20, where I decided to max everything just to see how I would fare in the rankings. Did pretty poorly, actually, since the GOTM scoring system does not favor maximum games. I got the blue star, though!
