I'd guess that sooner or later, everyone has had a turn end where a number of things have come to fruition all at once:

  • A couple of cities will have those small banners saying things like "Podunk builds Worker"
  • An advisor will tell you that "Carjackistan is building/has built the Great Landfill"
  • One or more cities will suddenly develop unrest

You get the idea: all of these happen in rapid-fire succession, often with the advisors obscuring the notices about completion of production (which are of short duration anyhow)--and before you can do anything with the completed projects, you have to acknowledge the advisories, by which time the completion notices are gone.

Is there anything that can be done to have those completion notices stay in view longer so that you have a fighting chance to recall when new projects are done?

There are some options in Preferences, which can help you. First open the Preferences window by pressing Ctrl-P in-game or double-clicking the Preferences button in Main Menu. Then enable options "Ask for build orders after production" and "Initiate civil disorder pop-up window" or something that way. They will help. Look at the other options too and see if any of those would help. :)

One of the big pains on massive maps is the large number of msgs that flash by and are lost. I am running into one now. I have the Internet and all those town that should ot have culture now pop borders.

I have to find them and put the lone citizen back to a beaker head. This is not so bad the turn that most get the msg, but later they are scatter around and it it is harder to find them. I look for places that are growing now and should not be growing.

This is one feature that IV has that I like, you can scroll msgs.
