I play Regent at the moment. Once I win a few more games
comfortably I'll move up to the next level.

As a side note, I am second on the histograph and catching up
quiet nicely in a current game where I was isolated from the
main civ group. I am planning a major invasion force and then
helloo 1st place [dance]

I think I answered this poll with 'chieftain' back when it was only a few posts long. Now playing regent - just won first game. :D

I just finished my first monarch game today and to my surprise I won :) Space race somewhere around 1930 or so. Maybe's it's easier to play on tiny 4 civ, I don't know yet. It was down to just me (Ottomans) and Persia, they had a large military and right about the end they decided to nuke me. I had 10 nukes waiting just for something to build. That war didn't work out so well for them after my retaliation :)

Congratulations. I think I answered "regent" and would now answer "monarch". Have you noticed, though, that the responses are still showing an almost perfect "Bell Shaped Curve"? Just slightly skewed toward the low end.

The great thing about it is that the game proves to offer a challenge to a lot of us. I wouldn't be very good to see that most of us were able to play/beat deity... Visiting CFC you sometimes might get the impression that deity is easy. Just look at the SG-games. These kind of poles correct that view...

I play Regent at the moment, so that I can easily compare myself to others. At the moment I find it very hard, with AI being millennias before me in tech and get all wonders, tho I have the largest area. I've got 1 victory so far, spaceship. The SS movie was worth it all, even those pesky Babylonians! :D

I might go down to Chieftain or Warlord to get some more experience on industrial/modern. I've been close to victory there, but it has bugged several times.

Note: Never double-click a foreign city

The Deity-level gives the ultimate civ-experience.But what a
competition at this level.Much harder to win on this level than
in civ2!

I use Chieftain. Because I have just played the game 3 months.
Civ3_ptw is my first time meet the great game-CIVILIZATION.

This pole has taken too long to compile. A few weeks ago I voted warlord because that is what I was playing. I'm now winning at regent and tonight I will start my first monarch game.

How do I change my vote?

It may have been a better idea to reset the poll just before announcing it on the Main Page. It's pretty obvious that many people are no longer playing the same level they were 3 months ago.

Hey, youre not alone. Neither do I

That's true: I voted chieftain three months before but now I'm moving up. I haven't started a new game from scratch in ages because of gotm and other games to finish up, but I'm planning to go to either warlord or regent next.

I'll have to see how my gotm17-carthrage, regent level, goes.

I've just graduated from Monarch and have started playing my first Emperor games.

(But since I haven't finshed any of them, I'm gonna vote Monarch)

I'm a deity man myself. I've played this level so often now, that i just can't get my mind around the mathematics of the other levels (warriors per city to maintain order etc). It's probably easier to stick to one level at a time.

I haven't played a lot recently, but I beat it plenty of times. Sometimes though I got frustrated by the ease the computer has at attaining dimplomatic, space race or cultural victories very early. So lately I've been playing with these victory conditions turned off. It's too frustratinf to play for 3 days, be the points leader, be preparing for all out war to assure victory .. and then BANG - cultural loss ... damn frustrating.

But yeah ... Deity for me.

I'm stuck on Monarch.

Same with Civ I and Civ II, although I think they only had 5 levels.

I still can't play a game on Monarch with total random start, and guarantee a win every time. Until I can do that, moving up a level seems silly.

Wow, some of you actually play on Diety? I'm impressed...kicks my heiny every time. Of course, I'm incredibly competitive, so keep coming back to it, but I think so far my record at Diety is about 2 in 20.

I almost always play Emperor, on a Large or Standard map. I do sometimes cheat on map locs, loading up my starting square with a few cattle and an iron (I'm bad, I know) but I don't mess with the rest of the grid. I just enjoy the boost at the very beginning.

The odd time I'll play Monarch on a Huge map, but (for me) that's still usually an easy win. Of course, Emperor on a Huge map seems to be disaster...even if I expand as fast as I can, I don't seem to be able to keep up. (But its a pretty good challenge :)

I'll agree with what was said earlier...on Emperor, at least when you first start...blast the first few civs you find. You don't necessarily need to wipe them out, but you do need to slow their expansion, and war does that, especially if you can establish a 'front' that you can defend.

He who laughs last...didn't notice he's been left behind.

I've been playin this game for about a month, and i play diety lol... and ive actually won a game! out of about 15, but oh well lol. i can get a space race victory in monarch in about a day, and yes, it is because i have too much free time on my hands lol

I have recently moved up to Monarch, but I don't seem to play very much any more. Then again, in my current game I have the Persians on one side and the Zulus on the other. A restart may be in order.
