He he !

I would fit it under the "I don't like that civ's color"... You know, you're bored... you're powerful... you just need a motive to explain yourself to the UNO afterwards :)

Most of the time, they just wander deep inside my border. I ask them to leave a couple times and they declare war. Once the war is started, they ask their brothers and sisters (other civs) to join in against me. Therefore, I'm always at war with multiple civs.:( However, wars are good for business, especially when I'm not the one who starts them.:D

Same here, except I get the other AIs to declare against my enemy. Since it is your turn, you have the advantage:

1. I say "Leave or declare war".
2. AI civ declares war.
3. Since it's still my turn, I go door to door forming an international coalition against the agressive brute who declared war on me.
4. Wipe up enemy units within borders and then prepare to launch the offensive.

Well, you see, the only reason I see fit is that in 3000 bc you couldnt 100% crush them, and you see a city with only a spearman in it, and you want, AND THE AI STINKS SO MUCH YOU JUST WANT TO RUTHLESSLY SLAUGHTER THEM ALL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

there, now I feel better

You forgot one for the resource rich, small but annoying civilization.

"This is the line of death. Cross it and you die.... Okay. Cross this one and you die.... Okay. Cross this one and you die...." :)

How about another one. "Sorry, but I need to take your land and cities to stand a chance at winning the game." :D

I particularly like Xerses line. "We'll remove our units from your territory... for now."

You said it man! With Marla's map I was at war 15 civilizations at once! I was at war with EVERYBODY!!! They just kept making those damned military alliances with other civs. :aargh3: :aargh3: :aargh3:

I usually wait off until I am able to build Cavalry/Cossacks and then I wage a war. Then a make a peace after taking a few cities. I wait until I can build tanks and then launch another attack at the best available target. But if I am attacked earlier on, I will concentrate on winning at all costs.

How about adding:

"Hey that civ doesn't have iron and saltpeter and it has 10++ cities, what a delicious meal for my longbowmen"

At least that's my reason to start a war with my current game, an iron resource suddenly popped out around the russian border, had to finish them off before they gave me trouble later ;).

I'm playing France. I'm in a war with Greece now (defensive police action of course with the blessing of the entire world), and took a look-see at this coastal city, and thought, "Gee, Alexander's iron supply just dried up." Nothing better than longbowmen ahead.

I've never let myself get into positions where multiple civs are at war with me. Always, always get an military alliance or MPP with the civ neighboring the one you are about to go to war with.

To landgrab way in the beginning of the game; basically to hold enough land around my two capitals for intense productive development (for my least corrupted cities). Or to remove potentil troublesome neighbours on MY continent.

Otherwise would be for resources/luxuries. Towards the end, for scoring. ;)

Usually, I end up in wars when the AI demands techs or other things, and I tell them "Take your empty threats elsewhere." They almost always declare war when I say that, and then I usually end up at war with almost all the other civs because of alliances.

Also, I usually declare war when they keep moving settlers into my territory after being told to leave, or when they build a city right next to one of my colonies.

I use to start wars because I want

1. more territory
2. more luxuries
3. great leaders
4. to damage an AI that is superiour to me (war by allies)

I usually don´t start wars for resources since I expand heavily early in the game and thus normally find at least one of each resource within my borders later.

@ Mr Spice: You're too fair and good for this game! Not a single reason that isn't for the greater good of your people ;)
