what r your top 3 enemies that are hard to defeat

Oh, one more thing:

... I've found that many of them can be circumstantial to the game itself ...

That is probably the biggest factor. It is interesting to see and read what happens from the same exact starting point in the GOTM.

For instance, some civs get exterminated by barbs (look at the GOTM 4 results) early on. But the general trend does tend to come through on average. For instance, even with ideal terrain, the Aztecs never build a huge sprawling empire, like the Vikings will. But with crappy terrain, I've even seen the Vikings stay puny.

In my own GOTM 6, the English were able to box the Babs into a single city of size 2 after 5,700 years (fluke of starting position/geography). Other people reported the Babs doing quite a bit better. So like you said, the circumstances of the game seem to be the most critical factor for the AIs.

I respect the English civilisation under Elizabeth...she is very hostile and that attitude means she rarely swaps tech or gives tribute. Thus she is a burden rather than a bonus.

I'm surprised more people don't hate the Greeks. They always give me trouble.

1 Greeks
2 English
3 Mongols/Spanish

3. Viking- Whenever I am at war with them, I always seem to be allied with the French, so we attack in two groups and they die

I dont know if this is a little late or if anyone has already pointed this out to you bro, but the viks and the frenchies are both blue thus you could not have been allied with france and attacking the viks...hehe just a thought
