Religion -> 3

Thought -> A lot of the options.

There's a poll coming, right ?

Nope its not working.

Do we not have enough of these threads? I'm a Christian Catholic.
Agreed,

For the Record. I am a Roman Catholic Christian.

However I do suspect a poll is being constructed.

That was the point. Never mind I seem to be unable to post a poll.

I'll try one more time.

The idea was to create a reference so that no other posters woud post this question.

I refuse to answer. My religion is not something I will ever discuss here.

Oh, fine I give up. Seriously, though, we need a sticky. Maybe if we all petition the mods?
But some people, through the passage of time do change religions.

I mean, I used to be an agnostic when I first started posting in CFC.

You just can't please some people :):p

Say, that is wierd, what happened to my post?

Anyway, I said I am Christian Protestant, if I had to go by this list. Closer to the most current ideas, "Primitive Christianity" would be closer, a type of nondenominationalism, nonsectarian, but fundamental view.

By the way, Quakers are Protestants, not to be categorized with Christian Science, who are closer to Scientologists than Christians.

Where do you get that idea? Just because they have similar names means nothing, they are quite different. (Except in their dislike of the mental health industry, but even that is for different reasons.)

EDIT but not, I keep losing posts left and right.

In that case if you don't believe you are protestant you should of voted other and explained why? Sorry any offense by the polling options is completely unintentional, the poll was created by a vote of opinion, sort of and was intended to be as fair as possible. If anyone is offended see OP, and again I'm sorry.:(

Christian science is indeed Christian and other though, but it's closer to Christianity than to other.

It has nothing to do with the names.

My husband's grandmother was Christian Science, and my mother-in-law was raised in that church.

They are Gnostic, which is a basic heresy that denies God is much more than an "Divine Mind" or some kind of energy-type thing. If you "study" enough to tap into this secret, you will be rich in spirituality. This concept, which never really changes - it is Gnosticism and always has been basically the same idea - smart people rule - which is the oppositie of traditional Christianity which says, you suck, we all suck, thank God for Jesus who takes away the consequences of sucking.

Christian Scientists believe man is sinless, so why would Jesus Christ die on a cross if mankind was sinless?

Similar to Scientologists, they believe that all is hunky dory and if we can just somehow plug into that perfection (by lots of study, and being really smart) we will be hunky dory too. Of course, with such a belief system, no medicine is necessary, you are hunky dory (and if you are not, then something is wrong with you). Same old lie.

Here, this is from their website, it discusses "healing" the Christian Science way.

By the way, my husband's grandmother was blind most of her life, with an easily remedied glaucoma condition. The situation was totally incomprehensible to my mother-in-law, and infuriated her, and she, of course, turned her back on the religion.

I imagine Grandmother died, like all gnostics, thinking she just wasn't smart enough to 'get it'. Still, because she remained true to the cause, she will, like Scientologists believe, get some major pie in the sky, and be gifted with godhood on some distant planet for her "blind" devotion.
