At its best the transfer rate is 10mps because its transferring just on the network but usually I get around 2mps at the moment but its still very quick :)

Here is a screenshot I took a while back from the office. It's still fast, but not as fast as it is after we put a larger outbound firewall in place:

It's hard to find hosts with enough bandwidth to stress the pipe. The best places so far that I've found are Sun, Oracle and Microsoft.

Telus is horrible on the island, but Shaw isn't much better. At least it's a little cheaper though.

Hmm, I have friends that have Shaw, and they say it is like a dream. I have seen it, it is fast, reliable, like what Telus should be.

Lord Draegon - I don't know if Comcast is available here.

256/256 ADSL, the cheapest and slowest around my town. At Helsinki they have the same connection 10 euros cheaper...

But I think this one is ok, the only problem is that it is quite expensive, like most net connections here in Finland... Even though Finland is number 5 or so in the world in the amount of net connections compared to the amount of people. :(

Cable. I'll never go back to dial up if I can help it.

You said it Ankka. I'll have to do with dial up connection because ISDN costs bananas around here and DSL isn't available.

In a country where most have dialup, and few have 128 ISDN/cable, I am proud to have 1.5 Mbit connection :). Provided that I mainly broswe or make downloads under 20 MB, it's great.

The best part is... using local (country) hubs for Direct Connect. I get varying speeds on them, but never below those same 1.5 Mbit, and if faced with users with a good connection, it has climed to 5 Mbit. The theoretical limit for local is 10 Mbit, but I haven't yet found any other users that could upload that fast to me ;). Rarely anyone uploads at more than 2 Mbit actually.... while the lucky bastards download from me at 8-9 Mbit, arrgh! I hate it when some guys download a movie from me in 15 minutes or less :p.

Which option does plastic cup on end of piece of string go under?

Seriously, I have dial up at home, so it only gets used for e-mail, any surfing is done at work, which is cable.
