In my mind
I've heard a lot of complaints like 'I want this civ' and 'I want this feature'. If you don't like it, mod it! Vote on whatever you think your first mod will be for civ4.

I really think that issues will start coming up about 2 weeks to a month after the game comes out after we've all played through a few games. Then we'll know what to mod, the complaints will be the most vocal posts on here I'm sure.

I am really exited to mod an AI. There is always room for improvement.

Well, I'll first do some corrections. Making Baghdad and not Mecca the capital of the Arabs, Spell the German, French and some other city names correct, spell other names correct.
I would say that fits best with your point 'countries', and that's why I chose that.

How about, I don't mod? Shouldn't that be an option, too?

Some people are overworked, y'know. Not to mention lazy. Never forget that.

Find out what the really annoying AI cheats are, and eliminate
them.

Nothing, unless I notice something that irks me.

Wheres the other option?

I'm going to change all of the religon names. I will of course then always go for vbraunism.

Maybe nothing, but if I change anything it'll probably be a unit value like aircraft ranges.

I will start a DyP mod called MFYM. It will be sort of like the one I'm trying to produce now, only it will take a lot longer as I need a better computer. I will try to add more civs, units, improvements, governments, anything I can!

The civs, then the governments and religions, the AI, the techs, units if I can bribe someone to do them or learn how in the short time, and a few other things.

If I get around to it.

I, for one, will be modding the civics options. In particular, I am hoping to seperate out the 'Political Philosophy' and 'Governance' elements of the Government Civics-into seperate Categories. This will then hopefully allow players to choose between a 'Plutocratic Democracy' or a 'Socialist Democracy', or perhaps an 'Hereditary Monarchy' or an 'Hereditary Dictatorship'. I will also probably add extra options for both legal and labour-such as Prohibition and Capital Punishment for Legal-and Unionised/Organised for Labour. Truth is, I am hoping to do a complete overhaul of the civics system-not because I don't think they have done a good job (because I believe they have), but because I want it more detailed-just a personal preference. Might have Governance, Philosophy, Freedoms, Legal, Labour, Economy and Religion-with around 6-10 for each Category, covering a range from one extreme to the other. (So, for instance, Labour might go from Slavery to Indentured Servitude to Serfdom to Emancipated to Organized-with a possible Individual somewhere in there too). Obviously, though, I am hoping that my modifications can be more than just window dressing-with each choice granting certain benefits and penalties to the players. I guess time will tell :)!

If I had the opportunity, the first thing I would fix is Pangaeas. (If they are still "broken", that is: turning out multiple continents on every third map). This has been a pet peeve for years, and I would do whatever it takes to make it work properly. Pan-Gaia = One Earth. Gimme gimme. :cooool:

Next up would be a list of about a dozen other "map enhancements".

While it would be cool if this stuff works great already, it didn't in Civ3, so I should also hope that I could mod it and fix it if I have to.

Er... making better maps wasn't a choice in the poll, though. What? Maps get no love? I hope Firaxis has more love for them than that. :groucho:

I'll attempt adding a few civs using leaderheads that already exist. My skills at creating new content are lacking, but I know how to mod my own game.

Aussie, I was wondering if you were planning on 'publishing' your new civics system, because it makes a lot of sense your way (granted that we haven't seen the game or know how easy/balance altering these changes will be.)

Trust me, if it can be done-and if it works, then I am more than happy to share it with others. Definitely balancing of the various options, whilst making them all more than just mere labels, will be the biggest challenge.

Yours,
Aussie_Lurker.

*goes to click the "Other" option*

Where the hell is it? :(

Anyways, if Civ4 is anything like Civ3 combat:
1. I want to mod in true stacked combat (where all your units attack all the defenders at the same time, including ranged, flanking and bombarding) better then the CTP2 version.
2. I also want to mod in MAD (Mutually Assured Destruction) to make the modern age more lively. :D
