What would you do with 400 billion$$$

Firstly, I would have put 1,000,000,000 in my bank account. Then I would have tried to solve as many problems of the world as I could, and if there is some money left, I would buy my own country. And if there still is some money left, I would put that into my bank account, too. (It would most probably be empty by then.)

Spend some on defence like soldier wages etc, basic equipment (y'all remember the article about the US troops using AK-47s?) etc. Much of the rest of it would go into things like education, healthcare, things like cash incentives for advancing technology, buying senators I MEAN world peace...

For those saying healthcare and more, Bush and Co. are dropping $400 billion on medicine for old folks.

Me, I'd build myself a plush moonbase. Then I'd wager the rest on low gravity monkey knife fights :splat:

Divide it equally between healthcare, education and ending hunger in Africa

I would buy the Boston Celtics & my favorite football team, Royal Antwerp F.C. & turn them into powerhouses!!

To do something good in the world, i would sponsor massive programs to prevent further enlargement of the desserts in the world & i would buy a large chunk of the rainforests to keep the air clean.

o boy, i sound like those girls at the miss-world election!

Keep 1 billion for myself, and fund education and healthcare in the places that would need it.

There are about 6.3 billion people on Earth, which means $63.50 for every person on Earth. Of course, cash is a tasteless gift, so I would probably give everyone on Earth "Quantum Electrodynamics" by Richard Feynman ($40 at Amazon), with shipping charges taking the rest of the $141 billion.

Double it, and spend it on defence.

Yeah mars might invade any year now.

No, the budgetary requirements for dealing with the Martians would be somewhere more in the realm of 450% rather than 200%; doubling it is simply part of a response based upon the idea of fighting a war with all stops pulled out.

:D
For just a mere $ 1.000.000 payment a year I would help to get rid of that special problem. I love pudding and alike. A propos Poire belle-Helene, you would be probably able to cut down my offer in a half if you actually look like those girls you mentioned...

Three words: Bigger, Better Bombs.

i'd decimate the oil industry:
with that much cash i could easily develop and massproduce vehicles of every type that wouldnt run on oil products. Then i'd sell them cheap. and i dont mean just cars, i mean everything from home heaters to airplanes.
that should put a stopper in the oil industry.

Assumming i have some cash left (i might actualy have more then i started with, if it was a good business plan).
I'd buy up a large portion of the US. like a few towns right next tu eachother or maybe even a whole state, and then declare independancy!!!
i'd be curious to see if current political correctness would allow for a "you cant cede from the union" type war like the civil war was.

Buy the US Army and take over the world.

I would spend $250 billion on defense, and the rest on developing renewable energy sources, so we could break out of this death spiral that we're in with the Middle East.

Hey, didn't think about this one. And you know what ? It could work.

Let's just spend the whole 400 billions on renewable energy sources, and get the whole army out of Middle-East.
Middle-East's ONLY interest for Western powers is its oil. Find a replacement for oil, and you'll get no more involvement of the West into Middle-East. And once they don't feel anymore subjected to foreign's powers, perhaps that the integrist in the place will tone down their integrism.

Akka, yes thats the ultimate goal, but I think that for the time being, we'd still need to maintain our defenses while we disengage from the Middle East. Competely doing away with our defenses like that would be very dangerous. Gradually though, as time went on we would be spending less and less on defense. Zero defense spending could never happen, the world would still be a dangerous place even if we were completely energy independent.

Cut the budget in half and the USA would still have enough to take on the whole worlds army combined. You idea is a wase to be honest. Unless you do something cool like build a deathstar or something lol

What about spending that $400 billion US to buy many copies of C3C and [civ3] for everybody on earth?
