What's going on with CiV 5?

What's going on with Civ V? Something, in all likelihood. In the beginning of December, after a period of no communication, we got information on the patch (which was released), it was confirmed that Pitboss and the DLL release were still in the works, and there were "much bigger plans we hope to announce in the coming months" teased, which could means all sorts of things. So yeah, Civ V certainly isn't dead, it's just unsure what's actually up next. It'd be nice if Firaxis worked a little faster/actually communicated with the fans a little more, but oh well...

Yeah, and i thought someone mentioned that this was supposed to be a small patch and bigger one is coming out. Is there any confirmation on this.

I do have to say, if they stop here with V......i can not express how disappointed I would be. Sid, where are you man!!!! ))))

Yes, there is more coming out 2K mentioned that work is not done on the game. What that entails though has not been confirmed. Check in some earlier posts 2K Greg said not to worry because more is being worked on.

Hm, I was about to say it's been like a year with no updates but I forgot last time I played was 2nd October 2011 xD.. nonetheless, there has not been ANY news or upcoming DLCs or even expansion packs announced since Korea came out!? Has the series been discontinued or something? We should have had some news by now?

This game is broken

& that's why i switched to Starcraft 2, the amount of efforts the company puts to improve the game.

Just because they are starting XCOM doesn't mean they are done with Civ 5. It's possible they have expanded with a whole new team for XCOM. I don't expect anymore DLC or an expansion, but I do expect one or two more big patches.

Actually it is more than likely that they have two different groups. One handles new stuff, and the other does upkeep on already existing games. Code is supposed to be written so that you can read the notes and ANY [decent] programmer can pick up where the initial development team left off. So, them having their dev team work on XCOM does not automatically mean that they are not working on V.

I imagine they're working on both, however it is suspect that they're in a better position to issue press releases on the likely release date of the all-new game than about the new content for the existing one.

Firaxis staff is what around 60? Programmers(gameplay, graphic etc.), QA, Artists, audio, Producer(s) etc.

I'm starting to side with those that believe the lack of news and the even slimmer patch after so long is/was the result of Firaxis working on XCOM.

Sid, where are you man!!!! ))))

Sitting is his bathtub, rolling around in money.

Seriously, he was never the DEV that made this game-series, he was the visionary guy that made it happen.

And then he sold his soul to 2K and he was most likely awarded handsomely.

And the series is dead, at least for all the old gamers.

And 2K Greg, who was so vocal in the beginning, have anyone found under which rock he hides now?

According to wiki Firaxis employs 120 people, if we look at when announcements where made for previous games and expansions the only posibility besides the obvious one is that they would release it in 2013, which is obviously impossible as the world will have ended.
I think I can muster enough belief for one or two patches, but that's about it.
