what's MDI and SoD?

so what unit exactly is considered mdi?
or that's the actual name of a unit in some other non-vanilla version of Civ?

I believe it says. It's "Medieval Infantry". It's a 4.2.1 unit available with Feudalism, requires iron. Comes with PTW/C3C.

I have never, ever, seen anyone call a MDI a mace. Same with Rambo.

I think those were both popular terms in the early days of PtW but have been completely replaced by the simpler MDI (or MI).

Isn't MI Mech Infantry? That's why it's usually MDI.
