As for me nothing compares to today.

I was hired by home depot and my orientation started this morning.

It was paid training for 12 hours! From the crack of dawn (7 am) until 7:15 pm when it was finally over.

Since it was paid i consider it a shift and it was the longest working day of my life!

I believe 14 hours when a Freezer broke down and I had to throw away every god damn box of frozen chicken, pizza, and burritos.

I worked 12 hour fireman's shifts (ie 6am to 6pm or 6pm to 6am, 3 or 4 a week, the exact schedule varying from week to week) for one job in college. In my current job any time we have a big event we have to work weekends, "just this one time" my boss keeps saying. For the last one I worked 80 hours a week in 2 consecutive weeks, several times going 15 hours without a break.

sucks ass, ive never done more than 9 hour shift

I've done 14 and a little bit before, open to close when someone dropped out of a shift, after working 12 consecutive days. After a while you don't really realize just how much work you've done, though 2 lunch breaks and 3 15 minute breathers feels weird.

Erm 9-8 followed by 5am- 6pm the next day. The health inspector was visiting so we had to clean up

12 hours. An average work day used to be 9 hours for me.

Seven hours, but I'm working my first and only job part-time, so I don't really count. ;)

I had an 80 hour work week once. Yes, one week.

The first four days (Mon-Thurs) were ten hour shifts. Friday was a 12 hour shift, Saturday a 18 hour shift, and another 10 on Sunday. Got regular pay from 1-40 hours, time and a half for 41-60, and double time for 61-80. Almost a month's pay for one week of work.

Just curious whats your job? And did your daughter make you change your avatar? ;)

It was a temp job, moving a warehouse from one location to another. Many years ago.

She didn't make me change it...but she likes seeing it.

Technically, this isn't a "shift". but I deliver sunday flyers (off this weekend because mom had an operation on her hand), and one day I worked over 10 hours because of all the snowdrifts were holding us up

10 hours for me at a conventional job. If you count band stuff, I've been "on the clock" for almost 48 straight hours before.

I've never worked in shifts, but I know a taxi driver who worked 20 hours in one!

I work 20+ hours one day (split up by an hour). I was falling asleep, at the end.
