Okay, had a buddy working on this for awhile. He has reached a population limit and for some reason even though his cities' population continues to rise, the overall population does not.

2,147,483,647 is apparently as high as your recorded population can be in game for your own civilization.

Yes, WorldBuilder was used.

Blasphemy!

Can this be true?

Even tho I have never speculated on this before, knowing there is a cap drives me furious.

Maximum size for a 32 bit signed integer. Who can say why they felt the need for population to be signed?

Nice first post! It is indeed the limit for a signed 32-bit integer ;)

EDIT: I'm surprised it doesn't wrap into big negative numbers though

In an old game from the 16 bit days, the score was stored that way. However, they let it cycle. So if you exceeded the cap, you suddenly had a very low score, since you were starting over from zero.
