When can trade contacts with civs?

When can trade contacts with civs? Like if China has contact with russia and i don't. When and how can i get contact with russia threw china? Withoute Moving a unit to the russians.

Yes, this feature doesn't exist in Civilization IV. You have to meet every civilization yourself. You can, however, trade for maps and see where any nations you might not have met yet are located.

Nope, there isn't. Not in Civilization IV.

Unless you haven't met all the Civilizations before you research Satellites, but that is very unlikely. I haven't tested this.

in some maps it's hard to get contact with other civs like Ring. Exept if i make a stinking boat

United Nations! But that comes a little bit late (compared to The Empath Guild in SMAC).
