About a year ago I was looking for a good stratagy game. Some how i ended up on the infogrames website and saw Civ3. I immediatly got it.

So I started with Civ3.

Just like the author of this thread, I started out with Civ2 on Playstation. I've just started playing Civ3 and it's really cool but theres a lot of changes to get used to so I feel like a total newbie. I tried playing on Warlord level but I was way behind the other civs so I'm sticking with Chieftain for now.
By the way: This is my first post, so hello everyone! :goodjob:

Welcome to CFC King Useless

nice to know at least 5-10 people started on the PSX

(i still have nightmares of trying to move the units)

I started playing civ 1 about 10 years ago. After that, the only time I've left the house was to buy the newer versions. Oh yeah, and to buy a new computer.

My first exposure to Civ came in the form of colonization and civ1 given to me by my cousin in the mid 90s. I couldn't get them to work on either my 256k or 640k machine.

My parents mistakenly got me civ2 for christmas the year it came out. I bought the expansion back as soon as it came out. (shortly after getting my 166mhz p1)

I liked it so much that I never bothered to get anything else as I played it constantly with SSI's GNB4 as the changeup.

I was very upset with EB when Civ3 came out because they made me wait 3days. Been playing it ever since. I still play civ2 from time to time aswell. I also sort of purchased a new suped up laptop specifically for civ3 just before it came out.

I started playing way back with civ I. My dad got it for me when It first came out becuase we are both history buffs, and both played it alot back then I was about 12 ro 13 at the time.

I got civ II right when it came out.

HOwever I did not start Civ III until 2 moths ago due to not have a computer capable of running it. I still don't but I borrow my girl friends Laptop a few times a week to play it. :p

My big long story? ;) (I'm known for being chatty, so I'll keep it below 5,000 characters) My dad got me this game called Civilization II for Christmas of '99 or '00. Looked kinda stupid, and with a sudden addition of two siblings that year (Dad married and had another kid with my step-mom), my "loot-pile" was already looking very small indeed. "Oh great," says I, "Dad's trying to tack on another dumb computer game." I was used to Duke Nukem 3D, a Doom-like game where killing aliens and seeing gore was prime.

Then Dad pops it into the computer, and loads a game (he pre-installs-playtests all our games), where he's the English. He turns on Cheat, and pops a NUKE on the map, and with a click of the number-pad... my life was changed. Not really, but that siren followed by the huge explosion was PRETTY COOL.

So, Civ II for me. Got Civ III a couple of months after it was out, and I am now a professional Civ Expert (yes, even card-carrying).

Civ1 - I still miss the Diplomat unit's abilities from that game :)

My introduction to the genre was Walter Bright's classic game Empire, waaay back in 1987 or 1988. Yes, I'm that old

I started out with the original civ 1. I still like the leader screens, complete with government and the city screens - these aspects are definately better than civ 2 IMO.

started with civ 1 in 1993 on my 386. wow I have my 10th anniversary! :) played the whole series, especially I liked the underestimated Civ2 - ToT

Well... a mate of mine had Civ1 and told me it was a great game, and he was playing it every time I went over. I then decided that

I should perhaps get it, since he liked it so much. Then I saw Civ2 at the shop and got that. Now I have Civ 3 (of course). :D

I don't play Civ games ALL the time, I have my on and off patches. I havn't played Civ 3 since around June as I've been busy with school work. :( But now school is just about over, I have a lot of free time on my hands. ;)

My friend got me a copy of civ1 10 years ago. After a while I found a program called civedit, which let you mod the game! :D Been playing col, civ2, SMAC, ToT and civ3 since. And modding, though it's just here at CFC I've started posting my stuff. :)

Got hooked on Civ 1 at a friends. We stayed up all night playing. Ever since then I was hooked. Didn't have a PC so I got Civ 1 for the SNES. Played it to death. When Civ2 came I wore out my chair from playing that. SMAC was pretty good. Liked the build your own units aspect. CTP had some great interface Ideas, and I liked the public works, but the game had no soul. CIV 3 is a great culmination of the series. Pre-Ordered the Limited Edition and wore a groove in the CD. So I had to buy a new copy.:D

I also started with Civ I. CivEdit was great. I remember giving air unit abilities to Settlers once ... it was funny cause the AI was totally confused about what to do with them. I also renamed Militia to Warriors ...

I still have Civ I but can't play it (no computers with 5 1/4 inch floppy drives!). I was also a big Colonization, and Civ II junkie. I actually have Civ II original, MGE and ToT. My Civ III PTW time has been undercut by Madden 2004 (excited about football season).

civ2 in the summer of 2001. Actually I never bought the game, just played it at an uncles. Got civ3 for christmas of 2001, PTW in late 2002, and playing conquests now :) I'm hooked.

I could manage slightly longer sessions on the SNES CivI then I can on III/PTW. It's hard to use a keyboard and mouse in a beanbag on the floor like I did with the controller...ashtray to one side, refridgerator full of beer to the other, the christmas lights on and some wacky music in the stereo. It was a great way to spend college weekends!

I don't play all day long anymore. My days always start with some good exercise and usually finish by hanging out with friends...but I still play everyday!

Call To Power...it was like a dream...i was weaned on plastic toy army men, throw a blanket down and have a battle with roll dice
rules...CTP was to cool, tho i was a bit old by then...One thing i miss about CTP is the lawyers and corporate branch, spies, slavers and trade routes. Got Civ3 cause i thought it was CTP2.
Civ3 is better, stronger ai-better units- But miss all the lawyers and other invisible units. Legal stuff is a real pain in the ass and they should have that fact illustrated in a civ game.

civ 1......loved it....hated the fact that England consisted if two squares, so you couldnever expand or develop. lol.

I started with Civ1 on my SNES sometime in the early 90s. I used to get bruises and blisters on my thumbs from using those damned controllers all day long. I probably wore out four or five of them playing that game. When Civ2 came out I decided it was time to buy a PC.
