I started with Civ3 in May when I was over a friends house & he was playing it. I never really was a fan of computer games before that(with the exeption of Warcraft & AoE2), I liked my PS2 much more. Now my playstation is collecting dust & used only as a DVD player.
I started with Civ III earlier this year when I accepted the fact that I was too old and slow to play Quake and UT any more.
I'm glad I switched, though I still like to blow holes in human opponents in UT from time to time
Civ1 (1999 or 2000), Civ2 and SMAC a year later (I played those both A LOT, then got Civ3 a month or so after it came out (I missed it because I stopped playing computer games 24/7 and my subscription to several game magazines ended for good - missed a whole month of goodness). I tried CTP and TOT but didn't like them, and played Colonization for a short time.
I was well into my addiction to Civ2 when Civ3 came along and I decided to make the jump to a harder drug. Can't wait for Conquests.........I'm getting the shakes.......need a new fix.
Just be careful, Norlamand. Conquests is like mainlining heroin ....
On topic, I started playing with Civ2, back in 96. Also played the Call To Power series, but they weren't as good. Still, they led me to Apolyton, trying to "fix" them, and from there, I arrived here!
I started with Civ I back in 96/97 and played a few games before switching to Civ II. Continued with CtP (which wasn't very good), SMAC (which I didn't like much either) and ToT.
I didn't really like Civ III at first and just played it occasionally until last fall, when I suddenly "discovered" the game. I've been heavily into it ever since and now I'm just awaiting Conquests...
Tested my abilities to function without sleep with Civ1 back in college in 92-93. Played Civ2 but nothing but some of the scenarios and modded scenarios grabbed my interest. Took me 2 times to get hooked on Civ3.
Civ1. My uncle bought me a Creative Labs Sound Blaster system (CD-ROM, speakers), and the CD had 4 games from Microprose. One of them was Sid Meier's Civilization. That was back in the summer of 1991. Funny thing is, had my uncle not bought that CD kit, I wouldn't be at this site, or working at Absolute Quality.
