When to build the Lighthouse?

When should Fanatannia build the Great Lighthouse?

This is a 72 Hour poll, public, one choice and legally binding for the Wonder Projects. Simple Plurality wins, except for the cases that "Never" cannot win over the combined options of different time frames, where I will make it a spectrum poll of equally weighting each vote to the time ratio.
Other will only be added to the spectrum poll.

Options are:

Start prebuild in 5 turns
Start prebuild in 10 turns
Start prebuild in 15 turn
Start prebuild in 20 turns
Other (Specify)
Never
Abstain

This is the correct poll, and we should start prebuilds in either 5-10 turns time.
Remember the Lighthouse can be used to secure Bentley and win the Indian city over time.

Surprised you gave never as an option.

Should be timed to allow government switch first IMO. Therefore I had to abstein.

Voted other. I would want to start a wonder as the first 2 wars are drawing to a conclusion. I don't know how many turns this would be. It also needs to take into account the govt switch as we don't want a despotic golden age.

What I wrote here before was a little too harsh.

My vote is for never.

The conditions of this poll are unfair, since never does not have an equal chance with everything else. If never gets the highest vote total but not a majority, then I will be forced to demand a straight "should the lighthouse be built y/n/a" poll prior to the "winning" timeframe being reached.

This poll ios very fair given all the hoops the Lighthouse had to jump through to get to this point DS. I really do not like filibustering tactics in fair political processes.
It was hard enough to get here, and now we should implement it.

We only will have around 6-ish cities when we build TGL - I would much rather have a GA with more cities and out of despotism. Also, the map looks to be a pangea, so where is the need for TGL besides a GA, which we can get by spending 65 shields building a Man O War, rather than something 300 shields. The 300 shields for the Great Lighthouse could be spent making 10 Swords to go capture it if it's nearby.

I didn't vote for never because I thought that there had already been a vote in which the lighthouse had already been accepted as a targeted build.

The first poll should establish whether the wonder should be built, and then there should be a procedure to determine when and where. I just thought that we were at stage two, and didn't want to waste my vote on an "illegal" option.

My preference has always been to use Smiths to trigger the GA timed with learning steam. Ideally we would have our core railed at this time, but leaving it that long carries its' own risks.

The great lighthouse is a catalyst for Golden Age, remember. We will earn it back manyfold.

Md Bax, we are at stage two, and I need more than 60 % to overrule the first decision.
Wonder builds need the systemic integrity required for making hard gain long term projects happen. I opened for "Never" in order to allow the opposition a voice, yet, they require more than the normal vote to overturn it, due to the previous approval.

Mad Bax, I urge you to vote other if you support the majority decision. 25 turns ahead for starting prebuild will still be in sync with getting GA after Republic.

I voted other if only because we do not know exactly when we'll get to a new government. The exact timing depends on the tech pace. So I say time it so that it will finish 2-3 turns after researching a government (i.e. basically begin the prebuild during the government research).

The first vote was IF we build a wonder, which one do we want to build first. We have not had a vote on do we want to build a wonder at all. If we divert precious resources to a wonder, we will probably lose by conquest.

The people not wanting the first wonder could vote against it, that was widely understood.

This is a poorly constructed poll IMO. There's no option for someone who wants to start building in, say, 50 turns (the "other" category has an explicit limit of no more than 25 turns).

So are we building a Wonder or not? I thought it was decided that we were building the Lighthouse, so never wouldn't be an option it's a question of when (although I would prefer other not to have the time limit on it). If we have not decided whether we are building a Wonder or not then shouldn't we do that first? After all, if we are not then all this is moot.

PS: to make it clear; I voted against the lighthouse.

We already decided on the wonder, but if the majority regret their decision, which I personally don't given our long term maritime needs, they are free to do so.
