I find the lack of acceptable answers in the poll to be worrying. I usually stop argueing when I lose the thread, I stop visiting for awhile, the other guy stops posting, the thread dies, or if I see the debate is going no where. Also, long threads make me angry.

Not always, but often I abandon threads in disgust when the religious wackjobs come out of the woodwork and ruin threads with their stupid fairytales. When that happens, as far as Im concerned, the discussion is over.
