Where are ORIGINAL XML and art files?

This may be a dumb question, but i can't find the ORIGINAL (packed in) scripts or art files anywhere. it's very difficult to make a mod without any original files to work off of. Please help me!!!

Program Files/Firaxis/Civ4/Assets/XML for the XML. Or somewhere close to that.

For the Art you'll need to unpack them. There is a tutorial somewhere in the forums.

The installed Assets directory in the Civ4 folder only appears to have some of the referenced XML files but not all (like the ones referencing units appear to me missing - i'm away from my home computer to check right now so i hope i'm not making a complete fool of myself Also I downloaded the art unpacker but i don't know where the files are to unpack or what their names are. Thanks for helping me with this, i'm an old programmer but i'm new to modding.
