Where are Turks

Personally, I would have the Spanish and the Turks as civilizations in place of the Zulus and Iroquois, who, in my opinion, were NOT civilizations at all! This idiocy shows that Firaxis have surrendered to the forces of political correctness who demand coloured faces.

I don't like it.

Careful, buster!:(

Racial awareness and all that!

The indian groups are a bonafide human society...
And you can alway create yar fave civ in the editor anyways...
Remember 16 CIVS!!!(salivate):goodjob:

The Celts, Byzantines, and Swedish also got left out, but that's the magic of the new create a civ. You can create any civ you want. I agree they should have put the Turks in instead of the Zulus. How many people had heard of the Zulus as a real hardcore civilization. They hardly did anything to change history except for the Boer War. I think it'd be cool if they made an Ancient Civilization III and a Middle Ages Civilization like Age of Empires. Then, you would not exclude anyone! Good like with creating new civs. 6 more days....[plasma] :rocket:

The Iroquois fully deserve to be in there. They were the first environmentalist and as culturally developed as the Maya.

Sure, they didn't invent alot of things (maple sirup and canoe...), but neither did alot of Civilizations in CIVIII.

But since you're from the UK, I understand why you don't consider them a civilization. Anything that's not Eurasian is not a Civilization (Americans, Zulus, Iroquois etc...)

Well when call to power was made they had like 30 different civs, i dont see why they couldnt do this for CIVIII. I mean civIII is to be one of the best games out there and u still have limits on civs you can be

Yes, but CTP didn't balance out the civs like CivIII is going to do. They were basically all the same thing with different graphics (correct me if I'm wrong). Besides, you can add all the extra civs you want with an expansion pack.
And considering they're doing all the hard work, I don't think I would complain if they had only included seven civs. If you want something different, your best bet is to sit down and program it yourself.

Suggested reading: Chapter four of the original civ manual. It will define for you what their definition of a civilization is. Also, without the Iroquois and Aztecs, the Americas would be much too empty on the Earth map. Yet another reason to include them.

Just a reminder:

The Mayas were great matemathicians and astronomers.

They calculated the calendar year very precisely.
They had hieroglyphic writing (like egyptians)
They constructed great temples and pyramids (like egyptians again)
They had irrigation and roads (like the romans)
They knew the zero and could count as high as they wanted (like the Arabs)
And they influential religion and arts in the region.

How can you say they are not important?

Mayas Rule! :goodjob: :king: :egypt:

It would be too much to have the Egyptians, Babylonians, Turks, and Persians all in the middle east. I guess the Persians are supposed to represent all the non-semitic muslim peoples of Asia. The Babylonians represent the semites (Babylonians, Arabs, Hebrews, Parthians, Assyrians), and the Egyptians represent all the northern African peoples (the Egyptians, Carthaginians, Libyans, Berbers, Ethiopians).

So Romans, Germans, French, English, Greeks are not too much in Europe... Well, of course not. They must be. Such as Babylonians (Sumers would be better), Turks, Persians and Arabs in Middle East.

I think this well symbolizes the crowded Europian continent. The middle east and Asia have pretty much always been dominated by large-bordered civs.
Of course, the thing you got to realize is that Firaxis didn't want to just make a historical simulation - They wanted something fun. They may have felt they couldn't balance the sysytem well enough, so they went for another civ.
To get down to a point, though, I think to many people are critisizing a game they haven't even played yet. Let's put off the unneeded complaints until the game actually comes out and Sid and co. start working on a expansion pack (I'm sure they will - You can't have a game these days without an expansion pack - It's uncivilized  And besides, these guys have to make a living too, ya know...)

I think I'll shut up now.

The Byzantines are kinda included in the Roman civ, IMHO, I mean they did call themselves Romans.

i think 16 main civs were not good chosen. there are lots of civs which are more important than some of the 16 civs.
editor will help us to create them but these are not the same things. :goodjob:

Finnish where slaves of Swedish over 800 years!
And swedes did lottsa stuff! :D :p
So WHERE ARE THE SWEDISH??

The swedes/norweigans (aka the vikings) gave you the keel, wich made it possible to put a big sail on ship that were very manuverable. This made it possible to colonize Iceland, Greenland and the coast of Nothern america. New trade routes to the mediterranian and russia was now possible.

Whey also invented a new way of attacking. Ships came in with the wind in the back, sacked villages and the rowed back. The enemies couldn´t sail after them because the wind.

The wikings also were the only non-christian civ that weren´t refered to as barbarians by the christians.

The swedes also were a major power in the katholic - protestanthic wars in nothern europe. But were defeated just as we had the russians in our mercy..

We gave you Dynamite (gives you engineers..haha), Colour monitor to computers, the computer mouse, and the match.

We haven´t been in a war in 200 years. (There are other ways then armed conflict).

Im definatley gonna create the sweden next friday.

In northern Sweden it´s like 5-10 degrees minus celsius (a swedish invention, the celcius scale)..really cold!! Brr..

But here in the south it´s kinda temperate..12 degrees plus, no sun..

Where are you from, Diety??..

Oh yeah, i DO regret the Turks aren't in-they would've been my favourite 'kill 'em all' folk...those blood-handed islamic pigs ((
