Ok I have got to advances tecnology and have destroy one of the lesser civs, I have tanks, planes and ships playing on easy using the origanal civ 3 ( Is that what vanilla means?).

Anyway greece are my nearest rivals going by size of land owned and the fact they don't want any of my tech, so do I amass forces and take them on or remove all the little guys and leave them till last,

Also I destroyed all the cities for one civ but they still come up on the negotiate screen but with no cities attached to them does that mean they have one scout or settler roaming around out there that I have to find and destroy

Jae

P.S Why do England start in South America?

jaeman:

Vanilla = original civ3 = plain civ3, id est no expansions.

The settler could be in a galley sailing the high seas, this is really annoying!

About the war, I need to know more...

How do you want to win?

(1) Space race - difficult for weaker players on chieftain & warlord levels
(2) Domination
(3) Conquest
(4) Cultural - may be too late
(5) Diplomatic
(6) Histograph - high score at end-game, 2050

Civ3 is not specifically a historical game, so civs can start anywhere on a world map. You can set starting positions with the editor (1.29f) by making your own scenario.

I used the huge map that you get in the scenerios screen when you first load the game and I did not really take alot of notice of what was checked  just wanted to play, but I like the idea of total domination (no civ cities but my own)

game end 2050 can you play past then or is that when scores are taken?

If you didn't bother checking the settings map, then I assume that all of the normal victory conditions are on. You're going for a conquest victory on a huge map? Good luck!

The start-up menus offer no option to set historical start locations. You'll have to open up the editor and make a scenario. But, you can d/l scenarios made by other players in the Customization forum.

That would be conquest, domination is when you control two-thirds of the landmass and have two-thirds of the total population.

Right, scores are taken at 2050 but the game will play on.
