Where Do I put the maps?

Moderator Action: Thread moved.
The subforums are only for finished files, questions belong to the main forum ;).

Doesn't really matter where you put them, you can start them by double clicking.
But the right location would be C:\Program Files\Firaxis Games\Civilization 4\PublicMaps
If they are maps for Warlords or Beyond the Sword, put them in the same folder in the respective addon subfolders.

I put it in public maps, but then its in scenario, and everytime I try to start a scenario my game shuts down.

If you are running a mod, I find that if you put them in a PublicMaps folder then distribute the files the game runs much faster than keeping them in the real PublicMaps folder within the original Civilization IV directories.

If you are playing a single player game, put them in the PublicMaps folder located with the original game.

A scenario is a map with preset civs (and maybe preset cities), nothing more, so that's right.

But i can't really see, why the game shuts down. About which map are we talking here?

If the game shuts down, I have found that you have an invalid condition set in the Map/Scenario.

For example, if a map that I made on an Immense sized playing field was loaded into any other mod, it would shut down because it would be invalid condition.

Same would hold true for Techs, units, Civilizations, Leaderheads, and any other property. Perhaps the map you are trying to load belongs to another Mod or has some condition that your game cannot be met?

I was trying to load the scenarios from Total Realism 2.4 a mod that seems like it would require a lot of memory
