Where do you make custom units???

@Masterguy: Welcome to the Mac forum.

You should be aware that the world is awake at different times of the day depending on longitude. Also, people here have real lives, and do not sit glued to these forums during their waking hours. I would encourage you to be a little more patient when requesting assistance, since everyone here is giving their own time and knowledge freely and voluntarily.

Your first message was timed at 03:41 in the early hourrs of Sunday morning in the UK where I was tucked up in bed, and your impatient chaser was only six minutes later. Even when I'm active here there's no guarantee that you'll get a reply from me at all. If I don't know the answer, as in this case, I'll wait for someone else who does. I'm just the moderator for this forum, not an omniscient being, available 24/7 to answer every post instantly. Also, please try to give a little more information about what you are trying to do when asking a question.

I've already responded to your PM today, but didn't know you were a Mac user then. There are extra challenges for a Mac mod maker because there are fewer graphics utilities capable of making the movies needed, the editor is only compatible with version 1.21, and you have to be careful with line endings in text files. But I think Mike.doc is being a little too pessimistic. I know that Frunobulax and taltho have worked on mods and I think they've created custom units on their Macs, so maybe they'll be along sometime to help you out. But you might have to be patient .... ;)

Ok, I figured it out and realized that my brain doesn't have the capacity for that much computer information. . . so. Is downloading units on mac any different and if it is could you please tell me how? And do you still need to download the 1.29 patch if you already downloaded the 1.31 patch here?

You are still not helping us to help you. I still don't know what specifically you are having trouble with - how much you know and have achieved, where you are stuck, and how much you don't know.

- 1.32.1 is the current editor version. There is no 1.31 patch for either that I am aware of.
- Editor 1.32.1 is only compatible with version 1.21g of Civ3 for Mac.
- You download units the same anywhere. Use a browser, download them, expand them using Stuffit Expander instead of WinZip, put the folder in the /Art/units/ folder, add them to the pediaIcons.txt file, being careful to use an editor that supports DOS line endings.
- Add them into the scenario file using the editor. For that you have to find the Add patch fo rthe editor, created by Senecasax, I think.
