Where has the roleplay gone?

It's kinda dissapointing that we don't have more roleplay. The new RPG doesn't seem to have gotton off the ground, and we don't even have it in the form of imaginative posts in the discussion and government threads. :( Nobody made a mafia thread but nobody is active in it. One obvious reason we don't have more role play is something we can't discuss due to the forum rules.

I'm terrible at stand-up comedy and don't want to role play as a monologue, nor am I especially good at it even when there is a group doing it. At best I'm more suited to a supporting role. Anyone feel like injecting a little more culture into the forums?

Other than getting SaaM to sing a selection from Gilbert and Sullivan, I don't think there's much we can do. I bet after the game gets going, and we have a good opperutunity to RP something, we'll get some interesting dialouge.

I think roleplay started vanishing in early DG2. The RPG forum actually made it too structured IMHO, since in DG1, we had roleplay in the discussion threads. That's what made that demogame so enjoyable. Maybe everyone's out of roleplay ideas...

Yea I think making an entirely seperate forum for RP muddles it up, does it mean we shouldn't RP here or what?

In my own games I've always had the tendency to narrate what I'm doing in the game back to myself as if it was from some history textbook, stupid I know, but I just always did that.

Anyway, I'd love to see some roleplay of our great nation's history and adventures.

Haha, I do the same thing.

I agree, actually. When there wasn't quite such an obvious division between the roleplay and the running of the game things were a tad more fun. The problem was that a large number of people wanted to turn the roleplay aspect of the demogame into a full blown RPG complete with currency, businesses etc. Not that there's anything inherently wrong with that, but the presence of what were effectively two separate games meant that measures had to be taken to prevent the tail wagging the dog, so to speak. However, given that we apparently no longer have an RPG in the DG2 sense, it might be time to merge the RPG forum back into the citizens' forum.

I do they samethig too...:D Also I like playing music in the background like "Danger Zone" if I am at war..:D

Once my city is build, I tend to do a lot of roleplaying in the city. Just like DG4 with Huntington (40J's city). That was fun but it lastest quite awhile before it kind of died.
