leaders we would like to see

I'm going to try to not repeat too many suggestions I've made in previous threads, while at the same time seconding* (in italics) some of the better suggestions I've come across in this thread:
*I assume by doing so that brings the motion to the floor, and Firaxis then has to vote on their inclusion 😉

Amerindians: Pocahontas, Sacagawea, Liliʻuokalani (all would help get more female Leaders in the game), Geronimo, Crazy Horse; Sitting Bull
Balkans: Vlad the Impaler
British Isles: Thomas More (Lord Chancellor, author of Utopia, martyr and Catholic Saint); Edward III (I wholeheartedly agree that he's underrated)
Byzantine: Julian the Apostate
China: Sun Tzu
Dutch/Flemish: Peter Paul Rubens or Rembrandt; Baruch Spinoza, Godfrey of Bouillon
Finnish: Kullervo (someone mentioned Väinämöinen, but Kullervo is better known and the inspiration for Turin), Elias Lönnrot (compiler of the Kalevala)
German: Jacob Grimm (helped create the German national identity through language and mythology), Richard Wagner, Martin Luther
Greek: Homer, Pythagoras, Leonidas, Solon of Athens, Socrates, Plato
Iberian: Cervantes (author of Don Quixote, considered the first modern novel), El Cid
Italian: Leonardo da Vinci
Miscellaneous: St. George (can be associated with Israel, Georgia, and England); Prester John (could be associated with Ethiopia, India, and/or the Americas); Albert Einstein ("Man of the Century", with ties to America, Germany, and Israel)
Nordic: Hrothgar (for the Antiquity Age); Cnut, Leif Eriksson, Alfred Nobel
Roman: Lucius Junius Brutus (founder of the Republic and first Consul), Cincinnatus (Republic-era 'dictator' who immediately gave up power as soon as possible), Decimus Junius Brutus (nearly saved the Republic from descent into tyranny), Scipio Africanus
Russian: Anastasia Romanov (it'd be fun to get a few children leading civs); Rasputin
Slavic: Jan Hus

I don't disagree that some variety in age might be interesting, but maybe not a child who was brutally murdered...(Honestly, I don't have a better suggestion, either; children and adolescents don't generally rule until they become adults. Tutankhamun, Edward VI, and Francis II are the best I've got...and none of them is exactly inspiring.) ETA: I just memed Francis II into the game, didn't I? :shifty:

Wouldn't Jadwiga actually be a decent example?

(also what does "ETA" mean other than "Estimated Time of Arrival"?)

You're right, she would. She died at 25, but she looked like a teenager in Civ6. Same with Lautaro. Jeanne d'Arc would be another (started her quest at 16, died at 19).

"Edit to add."

I would love:

Karl Marx and or Leon Trotsky.

Zheng He (The chinese Tresure flert Admiral/Explorer/Diplomat)

Yaa Asantewaa (Ashanti Empire queen who fought against the Europeans).

Some artist: Pablo Picasso, Frida Kahlo or Leonardo da Vinci.

Some scientist: Isaac Newton, Albert Einstein or Galileo Galilei.

Sitting Bull would be cool as well.

If we're going to get more writers and poets, might I suggest Rumi?
Ferdowsi is my Persian poet of choice, but I wouldn't say no to Rumi.

if we’re thinking poets + leaders for current civs, may I raise you Babur?

The first mughal emperor was a prolific poet—could be cultural and militaristic.

I’d still prefer Akbar but leaning into Babur’s poet side could be interesting

Maybe Peter Paul Rubens would be fun - a diplomat / artist
I got the idea from visiting the exhibition held in the Rubens House (well, the currently accessible area's anyway), which laid out a summary of Rubens's life in a tasteful manner. Imagine being so good at art, that your governor is using you as their main ambassador.

Would also pair nicely with a Flemish or Burgundian Exploration Civ centered around Art (NL would be moved to Modern, with a more agrarian focus)

Another fellow Einstein fan in the crowd

Chaucer was also both a (literary) artist and an agent/diplomat for the English crown.

And in classical Greece, because actors traveled around to religious and civic festivals anyway, they were frequently used as diplomatic couriers and for clandestine diplomatic messaging: Aristocritus and Thessalus were both used as couriers/agents by Alexander the Great, as examples.

Probably spelling a bunch wrong but George Washington, Montezuma, sulemon, wu zetian, ramkamhang, genghis khan, Alexander, Simon bolivar, oda, gandhi (yes for the meme. No I will not change my mind) pedro II, Bismarck, Kamehameha, davinci, Copernicus, pacal, sitting bull, captain cook, Ashurbanipal, Benito Juarez.

DLC:
Theophanu - Diplomatic, Cultural - Holy Roman Empire
John I Tzimiskes - Economic, Expansionist - Byzantine Empire
Sviatoslav 1 - Militaristic, Cultural - Kivean Rus
